Today's Appetizer: The Power Curve

I see this toy as an "appetizer" and just like a good appetizer, this toy offers a little bit of everything and still leaves you hungry enough to finish your meal. I think that, especially for the price, it is a very good buy, especially for beginners who want to experiment a little and find what they like. However, it is probably not strong enough to get most people off by itself.

Use

The waterproof power curve is definitely what I would categorize as an "appetizer" vibrator. By this I mean that it is great to warm up with, but probably lacks the necessary power to finish you off. Is this a downside? Well, that's up to you. While I didn't like having to use two toys to get the job done, I enjoyed the warm up that the power curve gave me. It was also really great extra stimulation during sex. However, will it be my go-to toy? No. It just lacks the strength to get me off.

That being said, this is a really good toy to get a little bit of everything. The finger-like pointer is really nice for clitoral stimulation, the g-spot curve works very well, and if you move the toy just right you can have a little bit of the g-spot curve inside of you and the base of the toy on your clit. It also worked very well as extra stimulation during sex with my boyfriend, although it took a minute to find a good position because the toy is so rigid. And although I personally do not do anal, I am sure that this toy would work in that department as well because of the "retrieval cord" attached to the base. I think that all of that makes this toy really great for beginners to explore what they like and what sensations they want.

Material / Texture

The power curve is made of plastic, which is a fairly safe material. It is phthalates and latex free, made of food-grade material, and hypo-allergenic. Plastic is also nonporous. This, and the fact that the power curve is completely waterproof, makes cleaning incredibly easy. There are no hard to reach areas, just lather the power curve up with soap and rinse it off with some hot water or wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol or toy cleaner.

This toy has no smell, but if you choose to taste it, it does taste a little . . . plastic-y. Not bad, just like plastic. It is very hard and smooth to the touch. There is a little drag, so I would definitely recommend the use of lube. I tried this toy once in the tub with out lube and I felt very raw afterwards. On the bright side, though, plastic is compatible with all types of lube (silicone, water, and oil based.)

Design / Shape / Size

The waterproof power curve is a rather petite g-spot vibrator. It is 5 1/2" long with 4 1/2" being insertable. In more "real-life" terms, if I lay the power curve in my hand with the base lined up with bottom of my palm, the power curve is just barely shorter than my middle finger. The widest point, the base of the toy is 3" around and the and pointy, g-spot end is the exact size of my finger. I really enjoyed this finger-like design because it made this toy great for pinpointing sensations to my clit or rubbing around all over my down-town area, as well as g-spot stimulation. Connected to the base is about a 5" cord (almost the full length of the toy) with a small bit of plastic on the end. The only texture on the toy is large, wave-like bulges down the shaft and raised lines on the back of g-spot curve. The waves were not overly noticeable to me, just a slight change in width. However, the lines on the back of the g-spot curve were very noticeable to me when using that area on my clit, and I found it very irritating. This was easily remedied by simply using another part of the toy for stimulation of that area and is definitely not a minus to me, and some might even like the stimulation!

The product specs on this toy say that it is "red," however that is not at all the way I would describe the color. It is more of a peachy-orange color and very, very see-through. This was an aspect I found SO cool, even though it is not the prettiest toy to me. I can easily see if the batteries are inside or not, and when I turn the vibrator on I can actually see the little motor inside of it spinning. I put off playing with this toy much longer than others I have received because of the distraction this neat little feature provided for me. The battery cap is taken off by twisting and pulling and it comes off with a little "pop" of air. The first time I could not get the cap off to save my life and ended up having to have my boyfriend do it for me. I then could not get the batteries in either! I checked three times that I had the right type of batteries, but it turned out that you just have to force them in there a bit. This could just a fluke with the product I received, though. Since then it has become much, much easier to remove the battery case and to put batteries in. Then, to close the battery case, you have to line the cap up with the base perfectly, push, and twist, and the power curve locks into place. It can be very difficult to line up and to push the cap and base together, which is a downside for me. That is not fun to deal with when all you want to do is play. While this product is pretty obviously a vibrator, because of its small size and the fact that you can remove the batteries to keep it from turning on, I believe that it is very discreet and travel-friendly. Lastly, I think that this is a GREAT beginner vibrator for many reasons. It is cheap, made of fairly safe material, small, and discreet.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The power curve turns on by twisting the dial base, and is very easy to use in the heat of the moment because of ridges that give you a really good grip, even with lube on your hands. The base twists freely, slowly increasing in intensity, not clicking into predetermined speeds. The different speeds are very intermittent, and if you turn the power up slowly the vibes constantly jump up before settling back to the first speed. I really only noticed two distinguishable, steady settings, when you turn the vibrator on and when you turn it all the way up. I call the two settings "warm up" and "stronger warm up." The vibrations are located right under the g-spot curve, so they are very direct. However, this toy is extremely quiet. My boyfriend and I were watching TV one night together on the bed and I was able to use this toy for about 15 minutes before he asked if I was using one (he knew that I talked about it but did not know if I did or not) because he could not hear it at all. The only time this toy makes any noise is when the plastic at the end of the cord starts hitting the toy, an extremely annoying feature. Because I do not plan to use my toy for anal, I will probably end up cutting that dang cord off altogether.

Care and Maintenance

As previously stated, this vibrator is crazy easy to care for. It is very easy to clean with just soap and water. It definitely needs to be cleaned after every single use, though, or it gets a very nasty film on it which is very evident because of the see-through nature of the toy. This toy is also easy to store. I just keep mine in the plastic container it came in. However, should you choose to just throw it in your toy drawer, there should not be any adverse effects with any of your other toys. Nice and simple!

Experience

I always like to use my toys both on my own and with my boyfriend to give customers the full picture of how a vibrator is useable. So the other night my boyfriend I were having sex, while I used the power curve to stimulate my clit. My boyfriend got off well before I did, so he took over command of my toy and began thrusting it in and out of me. It felt amazing! I started screaming "Harder! Faster! Harder! Faster" Finally my boyfriend cried out, "IT DOESN'T GOT ANY HARDER!" Unfortunately, the power curve was already all the way up on the most powerful setting and there was no "harder" it could get. I disappointingly had to take the time to pull out another toy and put batteries in it to finish off the job.
