Tawny UR3 soft sleeve and vibrator - traditional vibrator discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by One of Five

Tawny UR3 soft sleeve and vibrator is quickly becoming one of my favorite toys in my growing collection. With a nubbed sleeve that can be taken off, the Tawny is a very versatile toy. Strong vibrations located around the tip area of the toy can be used around the clitoral area, or can be inserted. The nubbed sleeve gives the Tawny a unique feel that is both pleasurable and kind of exotic, if you are new to using sleeves of any sort. This is a toy best used for foreplay for couples, or solo to relieve some of your sexual stress, and everyone from beginners to more experienced users would enjoy this toy.

The nubbed tip of the the sleeve gives Tawny a very unique feel. The nubs themselves are very soft and poke out quite a ways, and vibrate a little when the vibrator is turned on. The texture adds pretty awesome stimulation when rubbed lightly along your inner thighs or inserted and pulled out a little to tease.

There is a smell to it, because of the material it is made of, but it doesn't smell bad... it actually smells a little like vanilla, which is very pleasing to the senses. (I've washed the toy numerous times to see if the smell would go away and so far it hasn't.) Although the sleeve smelled like vanilla, it didn't taste very good. I would suggest not sucking on the sleeve for long periods of time because of the taste. Touch-wise, the vibrator itself is hard, like almost all traditional vibrators. The UR3 sleeve, however, is another story. It's very soft because it is made of UR3 and is supposed to feel really realistic. I, personally, don't think it feels realistic, but I don't need a realistic feel to get me off.

The sleeve is very porous so you should take very good care of it, so you're not playing with a dirty toy.

This toy is one of my larger toys in my collection. She is roughly 7 1/2 inches in length with 6 and 1/2 insertable. Its circumference is about 5 inches and its diameter is 2 inches. The sleeve does add a bit more girth to it for people who like to feel a little more full. However, if you're looking for a g-spot stimulator this probably isn't for you, because there's really no curve to it, so you'd have to take the time messing with angles to try to get it right. I personally don't mess around with g-spot stimulation very much, so I'm alright with the toy being straight and inflexible.

I would say the size is more suited for people who aren't buying their first toy, because the size can be a bit scary for the person new to the sex toy world. Because the toy is 7 and 1/2 inches, it is a little harder to hide, but not entirely impossible if you know where to store it where people won't be snooping around. This toy is not very discreet in a visual sense, or a sound sense... and if you're traveling with someone other then your partner and you're sharing a hotel room, I'd keep this toy at home.

I've had toys before where the vibrations are located closer to the lower/middle of the toy, and have been disappointed because the vibrations aren't as strong on the top. This toy is different. The vibrations are located on the upper half, or third quarter, of the toy so the vibrations are actually felt on the tip, as well as on the bottom but are primarily located towards the tip. Tawny is a multi-speed vibrator with a twist-dial located on the bottom. I like the fact that the toy is multi-speed. However, the dial is VERY easy to turn, and if you're playing with it under the sheets, and you go to move it and hit the dial just right, it will turn it down. This is a very noisy toy, but unlike a lot of other toys, this vibrator has the power to back up the noise. I would suggest not buying this if you live in a dorm because the toy can and will be heard outside the door. This toy is NOT waterproof, there is no o-ring so DON'T dunk this in water, or take it in the shower with you.

This is my first ur3 toy and maintenance for products made of this material requires a little more time. However, it takes an extra 30 seconds to sprinkle some corn starch on it after you've washed the sleeve with either toy cleaner, or antibacterial soap and warm water. The sleeve is able to be removed so clean up for it is easier because you don't have to worry about getting the battery compartment wet. If you don't want to take the sleeve off, though, you can stretch it over the battery compartment so it doesn't get wet. I store this toy in a plastic bag next to my other toys, so it is not touching them. Until I find of a better way to store it, it will remain in the plastic baggy.

I've only used this toy with water based lubes and I honestly do not know what the effects of silicone based lubes would be on the sleeve.

Tawny is packaged in a plastic container that was flat until you got to the toy, with a cardboard sleeve promoting the brand and toy. I felt that the toy was packaged in too much plastic and could be packaged with less. There were no instructions other then a paper giving examples of how to put in batteries. I guess if you have the room for the large package you can store it, but personally, I think you would be better off storing it in a zip-lock bag.

This toy could be given as a gift if you pull the person off to the side where they can open it in privacy.

I would really try to get this baby clean after using it because if you set it down for even a small amount of time, it has a tendency to collect dust and small particles... almost like a lint roller.

After washing this toy for the first time I was eager to try it out. I moved it around my breasts and on my nipples, enjoying the nubbed feel on my nipples, and then teased my erogenous zones before inserting it. The nubbed feel really adds a little spice to vaginal play.
