Bullet discontinued
by Aneros

Way overpriced for what you get

If it was $50 less this would be a 5 star toy, but the high price tag just isn't worth what you get with the Aneros Muze. It does have a fair amount of power and has several settings, but it's also not waterproof and not rechargeable. In short, most people will not be impressed with what they get for the price.

Use

This toy is a bullet vibrator. Bullets are small, thin toys that are mainly intended for external stimulation. This toy is also compatible with other Aneros toys that have a place to insert a bullet, and has more settings than the bullet that the other toys come with.

On its own, this toy is best for clitoral stimulation. The small tip is good for pinpoint stimulation, but if you like broad stimulation this may not be your best bet. You can lay the toy between your labia, but it's not wide enough to give a large surface of vibrations.

You can insert this toy vaginally, but it's a bit too small. Even ladies who haven't been penetrated before will probably find this boring and too thin when inserting it. It is not good for thrusting or for g-spot stimulation.

Though Aneros is mainly a line of anal toys for men, the Muze should NEVER be inserted anally on its own. It has no flared base or handle, so it would be very easy to have slip out of your fingers and get lost inside your body. While this toy is probably more expensive than a trip to the Urgent Care center, I don't want you to waste even MORE money.

If you're looking for a toy to introduce into a couple, look elsewhere. This is not only very expensive if it turns out to not float your boat, but it's not very versatile. While you could use it externally during sex, it's best to get something that's good to insert for your first toy together.

I feel similarly about this being your first toy in general. If you want to drop $100+ on your first toy, get something that's going to be good for both internal and external use. Heck, get something rechargeable and waterproof while you're at it!

This toy partially passes Ryu's dorm seal of approval. While it's super quiet and easy to store, it is not waterproof. This means that you can't sneak it into the showers at college, which is a bummer.

Material / Texture

The Muze is made of stainless steel, which is rated a 10 out of 10 on the Eden safety scale. The nice material is the only thing that puts the 'value' of this toy anywhere near the price. Stainless steel is a really neat material for toys, and most steel toys are fairly expensive.

Steel is rated a 10 out of 10 because it's nonporous and body safe. Bacteria cannot get inside the bacteria and thrive, which is why this material is used commonly in medical settings. Being body safe means that it doesn't contain any gross chemicals that can leak into your body.

Steel itself can be disinfected by boiling it, but since this has motorized parts you should not go that route. You can disinfect this by wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution if you want to switch users.

This toy is the exact opposite of a lint magnet. Even if you get it wet and roll it on your favorite sweater, after it dries the lint just falls off. It has little drag, which makes it not collect lint, and so no lube is needed. If you do use lube, a little goes a long ways!

Steel is very rigid, and no part of this toy has any give at all to it. This is a good thing for external toys because it means you can put as much or as little pressure as you need. The rigidity should not be an issue if you're using this for insertion because of the small size.

Especially for an external toy, steel is a great material for both beginners and advanced users. Lube is not a must, it's safe, and it's very easy to care for.

Design / Shape / Size

While the Muze may look like a sleeker version of the Little Chroma, think again. This is little Chromas wimpier, less useful cousin who tries to be just as valuable.

The Muze is 4 inches long from tip to bottom. It's an 'extra long' bullet style toy, which is especially useful if you want to use it clitorally during intercourse. The length also makes it good to use for very shallow insertion, if that's something you're interested in.

When it comes to girth, the Muze is less than an inch around. Because of this, it can not be compared to the Little Chroma, which is much thicker. At less than an inch around you can't even feel it when inserted. If you are not used to penetration at all this might be good to play around with, but you'll grow out of it very quickly as it's thinner than a single finger. The small girth also makes it good for very pinpoint stimulation. If you want broad stimulation, look elsewhere.

While you can use this as a bullet in other toys, it's certainly not one size fits most. If your toy originally came with a standard bullet, this toy will be way too thin. Unless you have an Aneros toy, this is probably not going to fit perfectly in anything else.

If someone saw this out it's not extremely apparent what it is, but it's also not easy to pass off as something other than a sex toy. It is a good size to travel with, but it has no travel lock so you have to remove the batteries.

If you're looking to replace your Aneros bullet in another one of their toys or you want a bullet that's super thin, this may be an okay choice. You really can't use it in many other toys because of the odd dimensions, so for the price it's a bit of a one trick pony.

Functions / Performance / Controls

When it comes to the functions I was a bit disappointed with the Muze. Not only does it not do my dishes for the price, but it doesn't have the type of variety I look for in this type of toy. In total, this is where my biggest issues with this bullet are.

You control the Muze by pressing the one button on the base. It's easy enough to control, but the button is a bit easy to accidentally hit when you're using it. To turn the toy off you hold the button down for 3 seconds. When you turn it back on it jumps back to the first setting. The settings are as follows:

1) Low (1 bee, 3 vrooms)
2) bbbbBBBZZZZBBBBbbbbbbBBBZZZZZBBBBbbb (1 bee, 2 vrooms)
3) bbbZZbbbZZbbbZZ (1 bee, low 2 vrooms)
4) High rumbly (1.5 bees, 4 vrooms)
5) bbbbBBBZZZZBBBBbbbbbbBBBZZZZZBBBBbbb (1.5 bees, 3 vrooms)
6) bbbZZbbbZZbbbZZ (1.5 bees, low 3 vrooms)
7) High buzzy (1.5 bees, 4 vrooms)
8) buzzy bbbbBBBZZZZBBBBbbbbbbBBBZZZZZBBBBbbb (1.5 bees, 3 vrooms)
9) buzzy bbbZZbbbZZbbbZZ (1.5 bees, low 3 vrooms)

On the last 3 settings I don't think that the toy actually gets more powerful, it just gets higher pitched and more buzzy. On top of that, this seems like the least intuitive way to organize patterns in a toy. If I'm on low and steady I have to cycle through all of the low patterns to get to the high and steady setting. On top of that, it only has the same two patterns repeated over and over again. I would have rather had more patterns in less intensities.

The vibrations are focused in the tip of the toy, but can be felt in the 'handle' part. This is really only a problem with the last 'buzzy' settings, because after prolonged use it does tend to numb your fingers. The vibrations are all pretty darned quiet.

This toy is not waterproof, something else I would have liked to get for the price of this toy. Not only does this mean that you can't take it with you to the shower, but it means that you have to be very careful cleaning it.

In total, this toy is going to have good vibrations for 'average' people. If you're very sensitive or are a power queen, you may want to look elsewhere. It is pretty quiet, so if that's one of your main concerns it might be an okay toy to look into.

Care and Maintenance

The Muze is very easy to clean and store. Being made of metal, it's not a lint magnet at all. As long as you store it in a fairly clean place you should only have to wash it after every use. You can wash it with soap and water, an antibacterial toy cleaner, or just use a toy wipe.

While you can disinfect this toy, it should never be boiled or put in the washing machine. Not only would the heat hurt the motor, but it's not waterproof at all. If you do want to disinfect this toy you can wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution. This should be done every time you want to switch users to prevent the spread of bacteria and infection.

You can store this toy in the box it came in or toss it just about anywhere. It's a nice size to fit under a pillow or to tuck into a drawer. It's compatible with all other toy materials and all types of lube.

Packaging

The only thing about the Muze that makes you feel like you're getting something close to what you payed for. The Muze comes in a hard, cardboard box that is great for storage and would be really nice to gift.

The box has a cardboard sleeve that fits over the middle of it. It says the name of the toy and has a picture of it on the front. On the back it has some basic information. It advertises that it only takes one AAA battery and that it is made of quality materials.

The box itself has the word Aneros on the top in silver lettering. If you're gifting this you should probably just wrap this box without the sleeve because it will look a bit more high quality. The box does have a flap that is kept closed magnetically.

Inside the box you will find the Muse set into an insert covered in red, silky fabric. There are also some basic instructions stating not to use rechargeable batteries and not to submerge it. It is a very nice presentation.

Personal comments

When I opened this toy I had one really unpleasant surprise. I am used to getting batteries with a lot of more expensive toys, and I figured that since this wasn't rechargeable it would at least come with the one AAA battery it boasted about using. Unfortunately it did not, which could have at least partially redeemed the fact that it's not rechargeable.

Experience

I was pretty excited to get the Muze in the mail. I had been eying the Little Chroma for a while, and a few other people pointed out that this seemed similar. This toy is not a 'traditional' vibrator, but a bullet, so the two can't be compared.

Other than being disappointed that the size wasn't something that really worked for me (It's too thin to be used for insertion and isn't a good shape to be tucked into my panties), I was also a bit let down by the functions. There are only two patterns for the three different 'intensity' settings, and I would have much rather had more settings at one or two intensities.

If you are looking to replace the bullet in your Aneros toy and don't mind the high price tag, or if you want a bullet that takes a normal battery and is well made and have money burning a hole in your pocket, this may be for you. Most people won't be happy with their purchase. I gave this toy 3 stars because it did work, it did have nice packaging, it's nonporous, and it does have a variety of settings.
