Use

My OB-GYN recommended/gave me a sample of liquid silk a few years back, and although I have tried a few other lubes, this is absolutely my favorite. I use it for anything: intercourse, masturbation, genital massage, etc.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Of all the lubes I've tried, this is the most natural feeling/looking, but a little will go a long way. It's water-based and it doesn't get sticky, but rather leaves you feeling moisturized.
    • Slick
    • Smooth
    • Velvety

Taste / Aroma

There is an almost non-existent scent and a slight taste. Having it in your mouth (licks finger) isn't entirely unpleasant, but might not taste as good as other, oral specific lubes.
    • Light taste
    • No smell

Performance

This lube is really just a near-perfect imitation of the natural thing. It's not warming or flavored or colored, but it leaves you feeling silky smooth, and not greasy. Also, since it's water-based and it was recommended by my OB-GYN, I can bet there's a slim chance that any woman/man would find it irritating.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Performance

Packaging

I like the pump on the 250 ml bottle, but the packaging is very low-key and unassuming. My best friend keeps her bottle out on her nightstand and one of our unknowing (straight, male) friends mistook it for hand lotion. We almost didn't have the heart, as he began suspiciously sniffing his hand, to tell him otherwise.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense

Hi Ginafina90 welcome to the community! You touch on a lot of important information in this review, but I think it would benefit your review writing if you added a little more detail such as: how easy it is to clean up this product, if it needs to be reapplied, etc. Good job on your first review, I look forward to reading more from you in the future

Just imaging someone try to use lube in place of lotion and having no idea cracks me up.

  • no good?
    • i get the impression that this is crap......
    • Liquid Silk's not a bad lube, but "crap" or "awesome" depends a lot on what you want out of your lube. Like, do you want one for anal play or vaginal? For shower play? Are you a stickler for healthy ingredients?
    • It wasn't bad, but Alan and Michele have a point. What are you trying to get out of the lube?

  • Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
    • So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.

However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?

Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else?
    • That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.

Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.

      Anyone else know about this?
    • I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(
