Liquid silk review
This thick, slippery lube offers a drip-free, lotion-like option for those who aren't crazy about runny lube. Because it's creamy, it has a texture similar to natural vag juices.Published: June 6, 2008
Pros:
The thick, lotiony texture means it doesn't drip off your hands, your toys, or your bits.
Cons:
The taste leaves something to be desired. It gets sticky when it dries.
Liquid Silk is by far my favorite lube. Like most novices, I started out years ago with the "drugstore" brands of lube. They were always a total disappointment. I got more lube on my sheets and thighs than I did anywhere useful, because it ran off my hand or dripped down my arm before I could get it where I needed it.
I finally wised up and ordered some Liquid Silk. Because it's thicker than most brands, it doesn't drip off my fingertips before they make it to my dildoe or my pussy. More lube on my junk and less on my bed! What a deal. It's also a good compromise for those of us who would like to use lotion for anal sex but need something water-soluble in order to safely use condoms. It doesn't eliminate friction entirely, which is a problem I have with some lubes-- I still want to feel like I'm getting fucked! --but it's still plenty slick for anal play or other penetration. It's a popular choice with partners who "don't like lube", because it feels a lot like natural vaginal juices instead of alien slime. The final benefit? For the times I'm a lazy femme and fall asleep right after sex, the residue doesn't get flaky on my skin.
The downsides? As most people mentioned, it tastes bitter. I don't find this to be a deal-breaker; I just make sure my first few licks use a lot of saliva to help dilute it. When it starts to dry and get sticky, adding more lube doesn't really help, and neither does spit-- it really needs a splash of water to get it slippery again. It dries a lot quicker in air, so the inside of any orifice you use it in will stay wet, but it's not a great choice for masturbation.

Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
-
So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.
However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?
Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else? -
That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.
Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.
Anyone else know about this? -
I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(

Thank you for viewing Liquid silk – water based lube review page!

Also one of my favorite lubes, though I prefer its thicker brother Maximus for toy or anal play.
Check out Maximus, definitely. I think it would satisfy in most areas that Liquid Silk is lacking.
