Lube for the Luxurious
Published: January 11, 2010
somewhat useful review
Liquid Silk is the lube for the luxurious. It has many uses, and is wonderful for anal play. It comes in a pump style bottle with no leaks. Silky and smooth white pearl heaven in a bottle.
Pros:
Water based, silky, smooth.
Cons:
Nothing.
I, myself, can never get enough lube. I think I'm in love with the stuff. As a toy lover, cam girl, and anal lover there never seems to be enough. I have been on a search for a lube that fits all of my needs. I need water based for most of my toys, and a good lube for anal use. Liquid Silk is everything that I need in a lubricant.
Liquid Silk is manufactured by Body Wise. It comes in a 8.45 Fl. Oz bottle with pump. I just love this bottle. I just sit it on my nightstand and use the pump as I need it. There are never any leaks or dripping from the pump. I just love that. No mess, ever. Also it is rather basic. A clear bottle with black lettering. It is not obvious to be a lubricant. It looks more like a bottle of lotion.
The consistency of the lube is very silky and smooth. It is a pearl white that is thick, yet runny enough to spread where needed. A little bit of this really goes a long way. One good pump is well enough to use for anal play. I love it because it doesn't dry and flake up like most jelly based lubes. It runs smooth and dries clear.
Liquid Silk also has some other great features. The lube is flavor free so no worry of unpleasant scents to deal with. However, it isn't the best tasting lube. It kind of taste like paste or glue in a way, so I would choose a different lube for oral sex. Liquid Silk is also L-Arginine free.
I have actually used this water based lube in so many ways. I use it with my toys, I use it for a little wetness if needed, anal play with my partner, and I even use it in my hair for a little shine. (I am not crazy!)Liquid Silk has oh so many ways. It is luxury in a bottle. Most lubes at this price in the store would be half the size. This lube is worth $16. Liquid Silk is the best lube I have used so far.
For those with allergies here is the list of ingredients:
Ingredients: Highly Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Cellulose Polymer, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate NSE, B.N.P.D, Di Sodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben.

Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
-
KaijahSo, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.
However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?
Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else? -
J's AlleyThat's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.
Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.
Anyone else know about this? -
Carrie AnnI have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(

What are the ingrediants? Is it hypoallergenic? Does it come with an expiration date? Does the company do bacteriostatic tests? (I already know the answers, its a good product, but people think of these questions...) Does the pump lock and become airtight?
Thanks for the review.

I definitely love pump bottles - they're so much easier to use
