Perfectly slippery.
I would absolutely recommend this product to any friend or foe, as I believe everybody deserves a single go-to lubricant that satisfies every need a sexually deviant mind could dream of. Long-lasting, natural feeling, non-irritating... a perfect recipe for a do-everything lubricant.Published: November 9, 2010
Pros:
Satiny, non-irritating, natural feeling, and long-lasting.
Cons:
Can drip if over-applied. Has a bitter taste.

Still a great lube, but after reading the comments I'm eager to try the Maximus version by the same makers. I think having both would give me a wider range of versatility because Liquid Silk is quite thin, and I've heard that Maximus is a thicker version (while staying true to the slick, slippery, natural feel).
I have done some more research on parabens and their speculative link to breast cancer. I don't apply the lubricant on or near my breasts, and preliminary research has shown that IF parabens are indeed correlated with increased incidence of breast cancer, the cancer action will occur on or near the location of topical application (and thus absorption). This HAS made me begin my search for a natural, preservative free lubricant that mimics the slickness of the LS. For now though, this will do.
Eeps, thanks everyone for the reminder and heads up on the dimethicone. I don't love this lube any less, but it HAS infulenced which toys I use it with (non-silicone).

i get the impression that this is crap......

Liquid Silk's not a bad lube, but "crap" or "awesome" depends a lot on what you want out of your lube. Like, do you want one for anal play or vaginal? For shower play? Are you a stickler for healthy ingredients?

It wasn't bad, but Alan and Michele have a point. What are you trying to get out of the lube?

Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
-
So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.
However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?
Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else? -
That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.
Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.
Anyone else know about this? -
I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(

Thank you for viewing Liquid silk – water based lube review page!

Thanks for the review, Waterlily
Great review!
Great review!
I've been curious about this lube, but was a bit hesitant to get it as a water-based lube for my silicone toys since it does have a bit of silicone (in the form of dimethicone) in it. Does it wash off your silicone toys well without leaving any residue?
I agree with S.S. The dimethicone ingredient always scares me off with this stuff. We've too many silicone favorite toys that I'd hate to damage! Thanks for the good review.
Thank you for the review. You're doing a good job!
As Toying Couple said, the Dimethicone is not for us, most of our toys are silicone. Also, we don't do "foreplay" we incorporate oral sex in-between bouts of PIV, anal, during toy play, we're always going back and forth. Sex isn't an "A then B, then C, then he comes" thing.
I think I'll skip this product. Thank you for letting us know about the bitter taste and the thinness. As oral and anal are intregal parts of all our sexual encounters as are silicon toys, this lube is not the best for us. We also prefer a thick lube, as we have many anal encounters and thick is best for this most of the time.
BUT, you did a really good job describing it. Keep up the good work.
I now have images of someone's grandmother borrowing their hand lotion. Great review!
Thanks for the review. The dimethicone ingredient has scared me off from trying this as well.
great review
thanks for the review
nice review!
nice review
I've had this in its container for years, and just pulled it out this afternoon to look at. It's discolored and looks like it's been degrading. Texture is the same - slippery and thin, but it has developed a sour smell. It was stored in the dark, so I'm not sure how this happened. Just a heads up!
I would agree on the discoloring and the smell. This is great for personal time. Good review.
Thanks everyone for reading!
Great review!
Thanks PassionCpl! I'm waiting for Maximus to come back into stock so I can give it a try next!
