Phenomenal topic, great piece. I've been quite lucky. I can't remember any lovers past who spurned (or even seemed to be simply putting up with) an afterglow cuddle when I was in that frame of mind and body. But it would be entirely unfair if I didn't admit to more than a few occasions of relatively immediate post-orgasmic ZZZZZs. I didn't look at it as 'manning up,' though, more a very sincere form of prowess appreciation.

Ahhh, I don't usually have any trouble getting my boyfriend to cuddle. Only once, it was late, I was sleepy and wanted to go to bed, but he was playing video games and not paying attention to anything. I said, "Mmm, I want some cuddles," in the hopes he would take a hint and lay down with me. (Note that this was a big deal, because I'm generally uncomfortable using the words I WANT, let alone admitting to wanting something.) But instead of pausing his game or quitting and cuddling me, he said coldly, "I want a million dollars," and continued sniping enemy soldiers at long range. He didn't even realized what he said, let alone that it could have hurt me so deeply, until about half an hour later, at which point I had silently cried myself to sleep. He apologized as soon as I woke the next morning, and we cuddled for a couple hours, until my hypoglycemia made me need food. And all has been forgiven

My boyfriend usually likes to cuddle. Right after sex, he's sweaty but usually after 10 minutes or so.. he'll kiss my neck and hands and face and he'll cuddle me. If we're both tired, the cuddling doesn't last long and we just sort of pass out. I usually pass out when he tries talking to me, sooo... yeah. LOL

However, most exes didn't wanna cuddle or even hold my hand, or do any of that stuff. It made me feel really horrible and ugly on the inside and I spent a lot of time crying and trying to change who I was.

I'm lucky in that my boyfriend is a big snugglebug, and unless we're really sweaty after sex, we always snuggle.

I want that doll, even though I'll only date a snugglewhore like myself!!
Wonderful article!!!

I think these dolls say more about the men these women are choosing than men in general refusing to cuddle. Why are they choosing men that don't respect their needs in such a severe way that they have to make a doll to solve the issue?

Interviews with Award Winning Author of Erotica Rachel Kramer Bussel

  • Writing quality erotica can be very tricky. As both an accomplished editor and author what do you seek out from your work that separates it from other erotica being published?

Rachel Kramer Bussel is a New York-based author, editor, blogger and reading series host. She is Senior Editor at Penthouse Variations, wrote the Lusty Lady column for The Village Voice, and hosts the monthly In The Flesh Reading Series, where she's booked everyone from Susie Bright to Zane. She has written for Cosmopolitan, The Daily Beast, TheFrisky.com, Gothamist, Mediabistro, Newsday, New York Post, Penthouse, Playgirl, Time Out New York, and other publications. Her writing has been published in over 100 anthologies, including Best American Erotica 2004 and 2006, the Best Women's Erotica Series, Zane's Succulent: Chocolate Flava II and Purple Panties, and others. She wrote her first erotica story, "Monica and Me," about Monica Lewinsky, in 1999 and has been writing smut, first-person essays and journalism about sex and relationships, pop culture, and books ever since. Rachel has a fondness for spanking, rough sex, hotels and general naughtiness...when she can tear herself away from her computer and iPhone. She also has a unbridled passion for cupcakes which she blogs about frequently at her popular group blog Cupcakes Take the Cake.
