One of my absolute FAVORITE films is Josefine Mutzenbacher - Wie sie wirklich war: 1. Teil, aka "Sensational Janine". Released in 1976 this film has everything that the movies of today do not have.

There is a script with actual humor and snarky comments dubbed in English, some actually decent acting, all natural women, taboo subjects, and sex scenes where the people look like they're enjoying themselves and aren't just doing it for a paycheck. Granted the actors are unshaved and some are in their 50's and upwards, but our main starlet is attractive and has that classic "girl next door" 70's appeal that is the polar opposite of today's standard of beauty in porn.

One of the best scenes is with Janine and her priest, absolutely hilarious! I have yet to find another film that can make a humorous and totally immoral and damning subject quite as sexy.. and even include that "he's as old as dirt but his dick can still get rock hard!".

The scenes blend well and the camera work is quite good, it doesn't feel as overproduced as much of today's film and has a raw, amateurish, voyeuristic appeal.

I love the films of yesteryear but unfortunately, can't find a DVD of this anywhere.

I wouldn't call it a great classic, but the very first porno I saw when I was a kid was called 2002: A Sex Odyssey (released in 1985). It was about a guy and a girl who go back in time. There was of course lots of sex. Eventually the guy from the future unknowingly hooks up with his mom in the past.

I can’t remember if it was implied or openly stated that he actually became his own father. I think to subdue his grief (of becoming his own father) he hooks up with the girl he had been time traveling with once they got ‘back to the future’. Most of what I remember about this one is hazy, but funny. I would definitely buy it if I ever saw it again.

Another that I wish I had bought when I had the chance was, Long Jeanne Silver (released in 1977, but has been reissued on DVD). A girl with an amputated leg or maybe a leg that never developed, either way she is 100% normal except for below her one knee there is not a full leg. There is only a partial tapered stump.

So in the porn she gets into some sexual situations, which usually end up with her on her back and another woman riding her stump. There is one scene where this dude takes her whole stump into his ass. Think about John Holmes; her stump was larger than John Holmes penis, so this movie contains some very significant penetration!

I was thinking about classic porn (mainly the 70's) a bit after I posted my response to this thread. It was a no-holds-barred, outlaw era of porn, that not only transformed the silent 8mm basement stag reels into the gazillion dollar industry it is today, but it has also propelled the advancement of technology (like the VCR, DVDs, computers, the internet, etc.). Not to mention that the two key ingredients (using actual film, and the adult movie theater) that truly defined classic porn are now all but gone forever.

Imagine that you had never heard of Robert Johnson, and all of his songs were recorded in one of today's top of the line studios, and then released directly on CD. What if Todd Browning’s Dracula (1931 w/ Bela Lugosi) was made with modern day filming equipment, computer editing, and then released on DVD. In both cases, it would completely ruin the feeling of how it was all captured!

Classic Porn was the perfect blending of elements that all came together at the right time, in the right place, with the right people, etc. Where the hell would we all be without porn?

We have a warm spot for Opening of Misty Beethoven. What does it for us? Mainly it's the old guy in the Napoleon costume getting head in the adult movie theater.

Beyond that, it is one of those 70s porn films that really tries to bring a mainstream feel to its film by using Pygmalion/My Fair Lady as its story base.

I have heard of that one, but never seen it.

I have to vote for Deep Throat. It was one of the first porn films I ever saw. I found the key to my parents' locked video cabinet and watched it one night. I thought it was amazing and I loved the plotline (even if I was too young to really appreciate the importance of a G spot). To this day, when watching porn with little or no plot, I always think, "why can't this one be more like Deep Throat?"

I got a copy of the original Masseuse along with the update version. It is very good. I also received a copy the Devil in Miss Jones with the updated version. Also, very good in its own way. However, my favorite classic porn is Behind the Green Door....perhaps because it was my first.

I think you're now making a larger statement, one with which I agree.

It's not just a case of "Video Kill[ing] the Radio Star," nor is it a case of turning one's back on progress. Rather, when technological means can augment--and forgive--human failings, the path of least resistance is to no longer pay attention to the fundamentals.

And we humans are good at following the path of least resistance.

I've got a list of movies that I have to see:
"Midnight Cowboy," of course, is the 1970s seminal (heh) movie dealing with sex. I own "Shortbus," which isn't exactly a "porn" nor a "clasic," but it's well worth watching.

(Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead. Were it much older, I'd not have bothered.)

I really enjoyed the original Masseuse, as well. But I really couldn't get into Behind the Green Door. It did nothing for me, which is a shame because I'd really been looking forward to it.
