How much does it matter to you that a porn’s sex scenes match its plot/characters?

As the title says how much does it matter to you that a porn’s sex scenes match its plot/characters? Obviously, this applies to porn that has at least some plot.

To illustrate what I mean the other day I was reading a review where the characters says she wants to take it slow and the scene turns into a DP. This is an example of a sex scene not matching the story, not everyone definition of take it slow is going to be the same but I’m pretty sure it generally includes one hole at a time .

On the other hand, my favorite porn movie of all time Upload does a good job of having the sex match the story i.e. the main characters never has sex with each other as it wouldn’t make logical sense story wise. If it anything it subverts the typical porn expectation of the principles doing each other. Because there is at least one moment where in my opinion they could have gotten away with slipping in a sex scene between two of the mains and have it still make sense story wise but they stuck with the more realistic non-sex scene.

Nah. I don't really care. My Man has a hard time sitting and watching any movie with a plot, he took at least 10 breaks during The Kings Speech which was a phenomenal movie. As he has some kind of ADHD or something. He can't stand plots or much talking in our porn. We usually also watch it with the sound turned all the way down or on mute, because we have kids and we can only watch porn in our bedroom.

So, most of our porn are compilations and vintage stuff. Not a lot of plot, I don't even know what's going on, because the sound it down, so it doesn't matter to me.

Honestly, we're just watching it for the sex.

It matters SOOOO much to me. I could just buy a porn with no plot and just random sex but that's not what gets me going. It's what keeps me going back to novels and stories for arousal and not just porn movie clips. I want to see/read unique, realistic personalities coming out and interacting. If porns with plots weren't going to bother to stay in character for the sex, then why in the world do they bother with the plot surrounding those scenes anyway?

Besides, if porn stars didn't try to become characters during sex then every time you watch a scene with that star, you're watching the same thing over and over. Boring to me. I want to see shy characters submitting or confident characters seducing or nervous characters being controlled or powerful characters dominating. Even though the setting and mood is completely staged, I want to feel like it's not. Nothing's a bigger turn off than two people faking interest and merely going through the motions.

I mean, Hollywood manages to do it in their R-rated movies (before they fade to black, of course) and that's what I would love to see the most.

Until then, though, I have my imagination and my books.

It really depends. I don't watch a lot of porn with plot - if I'm actually watching for the plot, then it matters, but if I'm watching just for the sex scenes, then it doesn't really make any difference as long as the scenes are good.

I definitely think it's better when it stick to the plot. There doesn't have to be a real complex plot or anything like that, but it needs to make sense.

I agree with you absolutely on this matter! The best adult movies we have, have incredible storylines, in depth character development, and we literally can watch them over and over. Gonzo films do nothing for me because they seem to just be repeated acts with different people over and over. I, too, get bored with that.

The only time this would not matter to me is if the character developed some sort of brain issue, but again that would obviously be part of the story. Maybe it is that I really do have some sort of OCD or something, but I believe if it is supposed to have a story, then the story needs to be told and ALL the loose ends need to be tied up! Nothing makes me more mad than to pay for a movie (mainstream or porn), invest 2 hours watching it, then leave with nothing but more questions, than before I started watching it in the first place.

Since I never directly answered my question: I voted it is important. I scene that grossly doesn't match can take me out of the moment while on the other hand having them match can pull me deeper into the action.

From my experience with watching different types of porn, I think that porn with a plot is long dialogue...no sex and all I really care about is the sex (there has to be chemistry between characters too).

I can't say for sure that I have ever ran into something that a character has done in the movie that didn't fit with their role, so I am not sure how much it would distract me. Other things like seeing a girl obviously not enjoying giving head, or being excessive with moans, etc...this would bother me a lot more probably.
