I've only done it once and need to build up heat/pain tolerance.
We found that a cheap way to do it is to use gulf wax in an old crock pot and use something to drip it on the partner.
Lots of fun but be sure to have ice and a knife on hand, the ice to cool the burns and a knife to scrap the cooled wax off - which lends well to knife play and temperature play.

I just recently got into it. I have to be in the right mood for it, but when I am I LOVE it. I'm normally a sub, but the hottest sex that has happened in a long time was a couple weeks ago when I was on top of him dripping the wax onto him. I nearly came, but he killed my buzz when he started begging me to tie him up. -__-

Wax is so GREAT. Love wax. Be careful what kind of wax you use though. Parafin has a low enough melt point to use safely. But since dyes and sneaky additives can change the melt point, always test it in a small, fleshy-safe area before pouring it all over. l did a scene with wax where the white-creamy color (no dye) was pleasantly warm, the red of the same brand was startlingly and deliciously hot, and the green of the same brand was searing and unpleasantly painful. Always drip the wax from a foot or more above the skin, so it cools a little while falling through the air.
