I am wondering who here has tried out fire play as either a top or bottom. I *love* it myself and am hoping my partner will find a mentor and learn it.
Have you ever played with fire?

Nope. I'm too dang fuzzy...

no not my cup of tea
06/16/2011
I might try wax, I'm not too sure about fire, though. If a partner was into, I think I'd be willing to try.
06/16/2011
I would consider it if the mood was right and the other person was really into it.

It feels super good. I learned about it and tried it at my local kink society. Perhaps try getting on FetLife, searching to see if you have any nearby and inquire at a munch?

We've played with hot wax. Not fire or cupping, though. Nor branding. Not my thing. I don't really want to. It freaks My Man out.

We have not. We watched a Real Sex episode that had it on, and it looks like something we would enjoy watching as a show, but getting physically burned is a little too intense for us.

I'd be interested in trying it with someone who was experienced, but it is very dangerous.
06/16/2011
Fire in general makes me nervous, so this is something I would mostly likely never do.
06/16/2011
It is actually so much less painful than other things I've done. But I've done some pretty heavy pain stuff like needles, punching, etc. Fire can feel like a nice massage. . . I just found out that my partner made plans to learn about fire at the next event we are attending.
06/16/2011
I voted no, but then I realized that cupping might be in that category. I do like cupping.
Side note: I actually learned about cupping in massage school, I had no idea it was also a BDSM thing until a few years later and I thought it was so funny when I found out that people did it as a kinky thing.

I don't think I will ever do it. I might consider it but my partner never would.

Doesn't sound like something I would get into.

no thanks

I'm too scared of house fires to even try.

Let me explain my response so that this makes more sense.
I'm not into intense fireplay, only very minimal. I enjoy it at that level, but nothing too extreme. I used to have a wonderful love for putting cigarettes out on other people's bodies which is similar, but since I stopped smoking I do not do that anymore.

Tried HOT WAX with a lover before (didn't enjoy it...won't ever go there again), but FIRE??? Never even heard of this "game". Having been a fire fighting paramedic and now being in direct in hospital health care and working with burn patients, I don't know what you are doing, but all I can say is 1. Sounds like something you really don't want to be doing and 2. Be careful and use common sense in whatever you do.

The body does not take kindly to fire and fire is a chemical reaction that is far faster and less controlled then you will ever know or think. A calm, small flame only needs to "sniff" a slight chemical wafting on the air currents or find a loose thread or hair where you don't notice it, and disaster will strike. When it does, it is likely the worse injury there is. There is NO "recovering" fully from burns. Disfiguring, painful and loss of function in a hundred ways.
Just the though is terrifying to me...someone who worked professionally with the stuff.
NEVER think you control what a flame will do. YOU cannot. It is, next to an electrical spark, the single most "volatile and violent" chemical reaction on earth.
I want only FUN and GOOD THINGS for all the wonderful EF posters and readers here, so in that spirit I will suggest substituting ice cubes for flames. They both can feel "burny" but that ice cube (WATER ICE..NEVER, EVER dry ice), will be so much safer.

The fact that it can be so dangerous is why the few people who do it advocate learning from professionals or at least from people who have been doing it for yeeeeeears. There's always the exception, but in general I've seen more dangerous practices. Plus, I swear some people who do fire play are a bazillion times safer about it than performers (fire-eaters, Rammstein...) who do it for a living.

I think part of the hotness of fire play is that it can be so dangerous. That's why it generally is considered edge play. Ice cubes wouldn't have the same effect, and the "burny" feeling from them can't last nearly as long. And they get wet as you play with them...

Yummy! Fire play is a lot of fun, and such a great sensation. I also adore fire cupping, as it not only feels amazing but leaves such gorgeous marks. (link is NSFW, as it shows a pic of my naked back/butt. )

Hot wax yes, but I don't like the feel of fire. I like to look at fire though.
06/22/2011
When I was younger I would light candles just to play with the fire and the hot wax but I've never had the urge to do so in any sort of sexual situation. I'm also ridiculously clumsy so I can only imagine that if we tried it wouldn't end well.

I like it, I find fire very tickly, though I am careful who I play with. The nerves just under my skin are super sensitive and I find people don't always realize this unless I am very explicit-I feel things more intensly, it is easy for things to feel too hot on my skin, making it less enjoyable, even though safety wise we still played way within range.
07/06/2011
wax yes, fire no.
07/06/2011
that doesnt seem like fun

I adore fire play. It's one of my favorite things ever. The whoosh of heat along my skin as the alcohol burns...the top's hand sliding along my skin after it. It's like a hot stone massage. I turn into a noodle. Soooo relaxing.
For those of you who may not know the details...one of the major aspects of fire play is basically the application of a line of alcohol on the skin, which is then set aflame. It burns up very quickly, resulting in a flash of heat that rarely pushes past "pleasantly warm".
Don't let people freak you out. Fire play does not typically involve being deliberately burned. I've never met anyone who wanted that out of fire play. It's all about the sensation of heat. If you educate yourself and take the proper precautions, fire play can absolutely be done safely. I've never once done it and found it frightening or excessively dangerous.
ellieprobably, where are you located? Maybe I can help you find someone who is knowledgeable. Feel free to send me a message.
