It takes quite a bit of force to get the Gated barb wire flogger to even mark the skin let alone cut it. The barbs are twisted leather not metal. We have never had the hearts leather whip cute, or do more than welt even after longer flogging sessions. The leather falls are square cut and have tapered ends so it's unlikely they will break the skin.

Both floggers can deliver quite a high pitched sting but the gated flogger has more thump to it than sting. The heart's leather flogger can sting and make you feel like you have been flayed.
