We don't have much "leather gear", never really condtioned it.

For the stuff that needs it, every month or two. Most is fine and doesn't need it.

I don't have any leather gear of an adult nature, but I have leather furniture, leather boots, and other leather goods, and the frequency of conditioning depends on the weather, the thickness of the leather, and which conditioner I used last -- which usually depends on the leather's color and thickness.
