New to "Tie Me Up" Play

Contributor: Drakoni Drakoni
My mate has been hinting that he wants to be tied up and blindfolded. Being a rather dominate person I'm interested, but not very familiar with the products out there or the best way to get started. So far, I've used a bandanna as a blindfold and played around a bit. Any suggestions for a newbie top who's willing to learn.

A big question to ask is does he want to be tied up or just bound? if its tied up there are some books on rigging and most major areas have classes every once and a while (or check your local community). If its just being bound, there are a lot easier ways with wrist and ankle cuffs that don't involve anything with rope and they are generally quicker and easier to use. There are however some people out there that love the act of being tied, and if that's him, you will ultimately have to learn a safe way to do it.

There are some good bondage starter kits here that you might look at with velcro cuffs and the like. Be sure that you and he discuss having a "safeword" that he can use as well. The industry standard is "red," and red means stop. You and he may not realize how vulnerable he will be in that situation. He probably won't need to use it, but it's always a good thing to have in your hip pocket when you're tied up.
