On the Topic of Rope Bondage

My favorite topic, rope bondage!

Where have you found your tutorials for rope bondage? Give us a link!
Any safety mishaps you have ever had?
Safety tips appreciated too.

My girlfriend loves being tied up. The only safety issue that I have had is that I can never get the knot tight enough. It ends up slipping with the rope I have. I have the Silk Fantasy (not silk-- cotton) rope. What do you suggest that is of similar price?

Since I'm the one getting tied, I don't have a huge amount of information (sorry!), but the hardware store is a good place to get different ropes to try. Nylon feels good (to me), and I don't think it has as much give as cotton so that might help with the slippage.
Although I haven't read them, Sir has both of these books:

and since He's the one doing the tying, I'd say they've been good resources . . .

No safety mishaps yet, but if you didn't already know you should have EMT shears on hand just in case. Unlike scissors, they have a blunt end, are angled, and will cut through most things, so they are the best thing to use if a knot ends up too tight, or you have to get someone out of bondage in a hurry, or anything like that.
And obviously, never tie anything around a neck. That's why collars have handy rings on them!

There is also a way to tie rope around a neck in a way that it does not put any strain on it, but not intended to be pulled on.

I don't ever buy rope for me or my partner from the hardware store, especially since she does not enjoy the roughness of some of those ropes, and because those ropes tend to lose knots easier and are more dangerous and springy! I usually only buy rope specifically made for rope bondage, of a certain gauge, and of a certain material. We like cotton, want to try bamboo or hemp.
