Sub Characters

Contributor: Chilipepper Chilipepper
While looking through the site for Frolicon, I discovered an interesting theme and wondered if any of the other subs at EF actually practice or know about costuming roles. For example, some of the more popular sub/slave/server characters (female) are the 50's Housewife, Little/Lolita, Maid, Sex Toy, and Geisha. I've also seen references to pets (usually cats), fairies, and princesses.

I identify myself as the 50's Secretary type of sub, and many of my photo-shoot fantasies for Master involve lots of backseamed stockings, pencil skirts, and pads and pens. Being under an intellectual, confident man who makes powerful decisions appeals to me (despite my egalitarian principles in day-to-day life).

Is there any particular role you identify with or usually use? How did it come about? Since I'm still rather inexperienced, any commentary you have on the subject is appreciated.

I would consider myself a switch rather than a sub, but when I do play with my partner I tend to take on the role of a Little. He tends to take on a servant-girl role for me. Not a maid exactly, more like a kept woman. I keep hoping to get him to try the Geisha role but we haven't got any kimonos or cheongsams yet.

Me acting as a little came about sort of randomly- I am a transguy and still pre-testosterone, so I look younger than I am. I also like to be cuddled and take on the role of someone who needs nurturing, so it just fit with my personality and situation to a degree. One day when we were having sex he had me call him Daddy and it just went from there.

As for my partner, he has experience dressing in feminine clothing for certain events, plays, stuff like that and he knows I am bisexual, so he dressed up for me and had his nails done then cooked me dinner and the rest as they say is history!

I love that we have an open dynamic and can switch roles back and forth, it helps to explore both sides of the personality and I feel that you can grow more as a person by experimenting both ways if that is the sort of thing you are into, so we certainly do that

50's housewife/kitten (petplay version)...ever seen Stepford Wives?
...that's pretty much my dream life if you add in kittenplay. <3

I'm also switch but strongly lean toward sub (my bf being sub is pretty much the only reason I've taken interest in learning how to be more dominant)

That's so lovely! I like how it came about so naturally for you both and how you dovetail each other's roles.

The Stepford Wives gives it a good reference point - adding the cat ears must be darling. Did anime have any influence (I seem to recall some car-eared housewifey types), or was this something you came into on your own?

I don't do costuming or anything, but I feel like I understand where you're coming from. Some of my more natural D/S dynamics have been ... how do I describe this?

I feel sort of wrong putting military words to it, because the military/martial things are not particularly a turn-on for me at all. But like where my partner is a rational, wise, well-respected General, and I'm a well-trusted, well-respected, well-thought-of, strong-in-her-own-righ t Lieutenant General. Still completely bound to carry out everything that's given as a command, but often plans are discussed and my input is requested---just that his word is final. Maybe sort of more like a cabinet member who's still ultimately subordinate, rather than an intern or a maid.

Don't know how well I described that, or whether it makes sense.

The cat thing? Well I've always been rather feline in my mannerisms so it sort of came naturally. =3
I do watch a lot of anime but even before that I still walked around wearing kitty ears and a tail. Though that does get odd looks from the neighbors so I tend to take them off before I go out.
