The symbolism of a collar

For those of you who wear a collar, is there any specific symbolism behind why you wear it, beyond simple dominance?

Personally, in previous relationships it was a dominance symbol.

In this relationship, we don't have that sort of a relationship, and I wear them because I think they're cute, and I enjoy wearing them. I actually purchased a collar off of this site that I wear frequently, because I think it is the cutest damn thing ever

It depends. I would wear a collar and leash in high school. I liked how it looked but I also wanted to stab at my parents to turn me loose a little bit. When I left my ex husband I wore a collar as a symbol of my freedom. I owned myself so I chose and wore my collar.

If I wear His collar that is me saying I am submissive and I will obey. With everything going on in our lives right now, I have not been able to wear His collar.

He made me another that is the equivalent of a promise ring, one day I am sure I will own both an engagement collar and a wedding collar. Like these rings symbolize a persons status as engaged or married so will my collars.

For me, my collar is almost like an engagement ring. It's a promise. It's a piece of love and ownership that He chooses to put on me rather than a play thing. My 'jingle jangle' is deeply important and I hope to earn a permanent collar in the future. :3 Sir is also planning on making a daytime collar and slave bells for me in the future as a small reminder that I am Owned and Loved.
