It references impact play...

A thuddy flogger for instance is heavier and produces a strong pressure impact.

A stingy flogger is lighter and gives more of a stinging sensation.

I prefer thuddy toys. Stingy ones can be okay, but they are harder to deal with for any length of time.

When I am the sub, I can tolerate a lot more thuddy pain than stingy pain, which means my husband can leave more marks--which in a weird way, I like. When I am Domme, my husband prefers role reversal in other ways. He is not particularly into impact play. But, if I must use something, he prefers a gentle whip that won't sting, or a toy that will thud (like a paddle).

I don't have a preference and like mixing it up, but I voted with thuddy because at the moment I feel like I wouldn't want to deal with pain + distinct immediate after-pain, which I feel like stingy gives.

I feel like, for me anyway, thuddy has just been pain, so far
