I think they are really nice for more formal BDSM play, like obedience training and such. They certainly aren't for comfort purposes. Some can be quite intricate and beautiful. Care to share some links?

Yes, links please! I love seeing what other people are into, and yesss neck corsets are gorgeous. I'd totally support EF carrying them.

I'm in love with mine, "custom made" here I wouldn't call it comfortable or even practical, but it's so much fun to wear, since i never get to wear it during sex I have to make due with wearing it other times.

I love the look of a posture collar. If you get one that fits properly, they really are not that uncomfortable.

Drool. I agree they are gorgeous. Unfortunately I require a lot of work from my submissives and they need to both look good and not be worrying about pain. Why are the most beautiful things unsustainable for long? Posture collars, hobble boots, etc.
