Ugh, thats why I watch my wall and see the threads that contributors I know are commenting on. There are so many junk threads.

There are many posts that clearly ask the exact same question for the millionth time. Plus, a moderator could help "train" the community to use the search function by constantly reminding it's there. I also think a good moderator would do this without insulting or turning off newer members. It's all in how they explain it.

I love the way certain forums are organized, I forgot what it was called, I think it is vBulletin.

Those forums are very organized and easy to navigate. Ours is just kind of all over the place!

I second the moderator idea as well.

I think the biggest issue is the SPAMMING and point farming, but there isn't much we can really do about that as contributors except flag the posts we see.

A clubs update!

Clubs suggested:
-Time zone issues have been brought up time and time again. A suggestion of making the meetings later in the evening, up to 11pm Eastern has been brought up, but there wasn't a big enough call for it that anything was done. Changing the time of meetings is a possibility if enough people call for it.

Clubs we've implemented:
-Community Gives Back. This started with the holiday families and became Eden Gives Back. Participation in Eden Gives Back has dropped, and EGB might be moved back to the Community Planning Meetings.

-An erotica writing club was brought up. This wavered back and forth between people wanting to read/write erotica and people who wanted to read/write non-erotic things. Eventually this turned into Eden Lit.

-Birthday club was suggested at meeting 6. In January we started having monthly threads announcing members birthdays.

-Holiday parties were brought up. We planned the first holiday party in this meeting, and then later on formed the Holiday Party Committee. Committee was dropped from that title and now we have Holiday Party Planning meetings.
-Contributor of the Month was brought up at the second meeting. It was put into place shortly after that, and by meeting 8 was open to everybody to nominate, not just members of the 'committee.'

-Blogger club was announced. While not an initial idea of the CPM, this meeting did help give that club ideas for improvement.

-A cooking club was suggested. A lot of potential was brought up with this club, and it sat around a while as an idea before becoming a fully formed club. While the first manager of the club is no longer with us, the club will have a replacement manager and will go on.

-Sewing club, or something similar. This was brought up around meeting 9. A general art club was also brought up, featuring all mediums except photography since we already had started a photography club. At this point the closest thing we have is our upcoming Eden Arts and Crafts club. This can cover art in general, but also crafty things like sewing or knitting.

-Photography club was brought up by Gary and I in one of these meetings. Gary started a thread to check for interest, and shortly thereafter the Eden Photographers club was born.

-Movie club. While initially meant to be something where people could get together and animate small movies, we eventually developed a different movie based club; Eden Flicks.

-Not a club, but the idea of adding clips of people reading from book club selections was something that was brought up here and was also done for Naked Reader. You'll need to email Laurel (laurelb@ edenfantasys.com) to figure out if you can add one to a Naked Reader book's page.

Clubs that have only been brought up:

-Music club. It wouldn't have to be like the clubs we have now, but at least a thread here and there for the musicians of the site to get together, try stuff out on each other, and talk about music in general. It was brought up a few more times, but never went anywhere.

-The idea of having a non-erotic book club was suggested. Somebody stepped up to show some interest in managing the club, but it hasn't gone anywhere.

-An anime/otaku club. It could be culture, cosplay, or hentai. This only got brought up once and hasn't gone anywhere.

I actually don't think threads that are old should be locked. Only ones that have a finite lifespan, such as Rumbles, etc.

Yes! I agree with the moderator idea! (Hell, I'd be one if I could!)

Mods could let people know when they're being out of line, and to watch out for obvious spam posts, blah, blah, blah.

Yes. I would love to be a moderator if the opportunity ever opens up.

There could be guidelines for mods, I don't think it is a matter or opinions on threads buta matter of how old they are/if they have been posted similar to billions of other threads/ if they are spam/ or get too controversial.

Oh, I also thought of two things I'd like to see:

An "online/offline" indicator on contributor profiles (that can be voluntary) so that we're able to see if someone is online if we have a question for them. It also has a lot to do with my idea about having a chat function. This would be incredibly beneficial for mentors and students as well.

Sorry if it feels like I'm rushing, I'm just trying to get all the info out to you guys before the meeting "ends".

An update on workshops!

Workshops suggested:
-Workshops were brought up during meeting 5. These could be run by a single contributor or with collaboration between the two for a joint workshop. Since then we've had a number of contributor run workshops.

Workshops that have been done so far:
-Dwtim mentioned doing one on lube compatibility with toys. It took place on April 13th.

-How to properly fit and wear a bra so that you have the best support. A women's health workshop run by darthkitt3n covered this and a few other things on March 12th.

-A bartending workshop was suggested. While one on mixing drinks hasn't been done yet, DeliciousSurprise did one on infusing vodka on March 21st.

-Beer selection and consumption. Vaccinium did a workshop on how to pick a beer that's right for you, and the best way to drink that beer on May 16th.

-Strength of glass toys. While not an actual workshop as of right now, Dwtim did do a video and shared it on the forum. He also shared a video about glass and temperatures.

speaking of moderators, i've recently noticed a few political threads being posted by one member in particular...
am i wrong or are these not frowned upon? they've gotten out of hand once and i see the potential for offense indefinitely. i thought i'd read somewhere that political / religious debates in threads were inappropriate.
i could be wrong.

if nothing else, i simply don't want to see it. too much room for fighting. also. who cares.

There's that tricky "freedom of speech" thing. As long as they're not blatently being offensive, then there's really nothing wrong with it.

I just stay away from ones that I think might get my bloodpressure up. Not sure if they are against any rules.

I personally don't care for an online/offline feature, but I would like a "last online" type of feature. This would help with knowing if people are no longer here or at least on prolonged leave.

Yeah. That's why I said the online/offline can be voluntary. You could have the option to have it, or not.
