Shhh! You're not a cheapskate! That's an awesome gift that everyone needs! Your time is expensive too, by the way!

Haha, I was a substitute teacher at the time, and assigned to 2 weeks of librarian duty. I actually got PAID to make those scarves lol.

Well that's a bonus! It's great when you can have the time to take care of personal stuff outside of personal time.

The year before last, I knitted items for my mother, step-mother and grandmother. They went over quite well (organic cotton yarn for the win) and I felt good about having put effort into them.

I've also painted cards and the like. It's nice to make things yourself, and occasionally cheaper to do so (though not so much if you're shopping at Michaels or similar stores... ouch).

I love making stuff. I buy alot of handmade things mostly because I love recycling, and I love supporting artists, but when I make things, I paint, Draw, Sew things, A little bit of everything. My boyfriends room is covered in paintings of boats, the sea, wolves, some crazy abstract stuff, drawings, poems, watercolors, I have sewn, ties, scarves, Quilts, blankets, bags, Lunchboxes, and 100 other things.

Yes I do when I have the oomph to do so. I usually give paintings I've done. Rarely drawings. I've crocheted and sewn things for people before to. It's always a great way to save money and make pieces that mean more to people. I paint with oil or digitally for a living. So it's fun to do, but hard since I co own a business type thing.

I've often given decorated boxes with some kind of small gift (be it a gift card or some chocolate or handmade jewelry) for birthdays and holidays.

It is August and I am just starting my crafting for Christmas. I finished all the birthday, anniversary, etc crafting I am doing for everything else. Just started on a blanket for my son and a quilted apron for a neighbor

Every second year I make home made food hampers for the women in my family (mum, mother in law, aunties etc.) I make Chutney, Rum Balls, Shortbread biscuits, mint sauce, nuts and bolts (a spice nut and fruit mix), lemon cordial and a traditional scottish fruit cake. I also include things like tea towels, wine etc.
Its my favourite part of Christmas

Only simple ones. Wasn't christmas, but last year gave hilarious cans of tuna with new homemade labels with hearts on. Classic.

I usually bake some yummy treats to give as gifts. Sometimes I draw/paint and make something pretty to be hung up on the wall. =]
