September Medium of the Month Voting:

Normally, I'd take suggestions from all of you on the medium we should feature. Because this club is new, I've chosen a few options to get us started.

If the medium that's chosen is one you're skilled in and you'd be interested in having a workshop on it, message me!

I'll bet I'm the only vote for sewing, but that's the only "craft" I'd even know which end to start on!

At the last community meeting there was talks of a toy bag workshop. I hope that still happens sewing wise.

I like the idea of sewing. I absolutely suck at it and would need tremendous amounts of help, but a toy bag sounds like a fun (EASY! ) first project.

Basic ones are super simple. As long as you can sew a square and turn it inside out . . . you're good! I just got some awesome fabric so I'm about to make some over the weekend!

I whipped some simple ones up once and felt real proud of myself but by a few months they all started to unravel and half the seams came open. Maybe I didn't leave enough seam allowance, or the material was wrong. Hmm..

Weak thread is another likely culprit. Anything that comes in a kit, you'll want to chuck. I always just stole my mom's cross-stitching thread and split it in half when I wanted something to last... it's way too thick to look professional, but I was a kid and it was on hand, and worked

I love that sewing is winning! If we keep it up, I'll have an awesome workshop for everyone! I've been doing a lot of sewing lately.

I make some like that using two pieces of felt. It's super padded and you could even stuff it in between the two pieces if you want to get really cautious (for glass). I use an exacto knife to cut slits and then weave ribbon for tying it shut.

Not trying to give anything away . . . but . . .

I just made a bunch of toy pouches over the weekend. I now have one big enough to put my Hitachi in, which makes it super great for travel. I travel with all of my toys to the lover's place on the weekends.
