I know several people who have pre-planned meals by day of the week (for example, taco Tuesday, meatloaf Wednesday, pizza Friday, etc). Some only have one or two days pre-planned, but some have their whole weeks arranged like this, and they only divert from their plans for special occasions like birthdays or holidays. What are your experiences with this? Did you look forward to pizza Friday as a kid, or have your meals always varied from week to week?
Are your meals scheduled?

I try to plan in advance but I'm only home about 3 days a week so I plan for them.

I'm terrible when it comes to cooking, so I leave that job to my husband (I take care of the clean up). He doesn't really plan meals in advance, unless we have meat that will turn in a few days and need it cooked ASAP.

I make up a list of meals for the month and buy everything I need for them during the big monthly shopping trip. Then I can pick from that list for each day's dinner. It allows for decent variety, and there's always something on hand to make something completely off the list if we decide differently. We always have rice, beans, and taco shells at home, for example, so a quick taco dinner is easy to whip up if I decide cooking something is just not going to happen.

We seem to eat at random times and none are planned out. Simply open the cupboard and grab whatever happens to be there!

I cook every other day and usually take out what I am going to make the night before.

We're Chinese so we don't really plan meals. We have the same set-up each day, but the dishes vary (and we eat leftovers). There's always meat, green vegetables, rice, and soup. The meat and green vegetables vary from day to day, whereas the soup is made for an entire week or so.

We plan enough meals for two weeks (usually a total of 7 meals which lasts long enough with leftovers for 14 days), but no set schedule on when we have them. There are some things which are omnipresent (pizza, pasta, macaroni and cheese), but most of the time, we don't have the same meal within a month.

Only a day or two is planned.

Once in a while if we're in the mood for something in particular, we'll plan a night for it. Otherwise, no schedule!

We made Fridays pizza and movie night, but we vary the type of pizza (frozen, pizza hut, somewhere else, etc.). I think I would like to schedule meals for the whole week because it seems to make things easier when things are planned, but not sure I have the ambition to do that yet.

O/our meals aren't planned, W/we eat whenever W/we want to.

I almost never plan my meals in advance. It all depends on what fresh produce I can find at the market, and I'll plan my meals around them. There are times when I'll cook up something in advance like Kimchee or curried stews, if I know I have lots of other things to do before dinnertime.

We do not plan meals, it seems like we decide every night due to us having certain cravings each night. We go by what sounds good and eat our dinner--when I tried to plan them we ended up not eating much of it and snacking on what we really wanted.
06/18/2012
I don't but I kind of wish I did
06/18/2012
Are you kidding? i normally just grab whatever I can find.
06/18/2012
I eat whatever there is when I'm hungry

We almost never plan out meals

I have a rough idea of what meals I will be making in a week but nothing is set in stone

We had to do this when we were living on a very strict budget. But, we aren't anymore, so we don't. I like to know what's for dinner the night before I cook it. That way I can set it out.

When I'm being good about what I'm eating I plan, but most times do not. I hate obsessing about food.

We get paid every other week, so I do a big shopping trip every payday. I list 2 weeks worth of meals, then make my shopping list so I buy the things I need to make those meals. We don't have to make those meals on any certain day, but I know we have enough to feed us without making too many extra random trips to the store.

I generally have the same things every week, so it's kind of planned but not really.
06/18/2012
None of my meals are planned out. I just do spur of the moment meals.
06/18/2012
Normally start planning about noon
