We use both and have wood chips for flavoring. My apple tree just died this year, so now we are going to have some pretty good flavor when we get it cut up!! I also like our meats in the smoker, and the turkey or chicken in the deep fryer is amazing! Last spring we buried a pig in the outside fire pit and that was so spectacular - we are doing another one this fall. Maybe an elk quarter if we get one this year.

I prefer to cook with charcoal, although not for the flavor, it is just easier for me, personally. Not so much about the flavor, just the method.

Me, I like it rare anyhow if we're talking steak or pit beef! So I chose that too!

I LOVE to grill! I actually like an open wood fire, but I rely on charcoal most of the time. NO LIGHTER FLUID!!! I also have a couple of smokers that I use to do ribs and pulled pork. Can't beat that

Nothing beats charcoal, and I have a fridge full of grilled meats to prove it.

I love the taste of charcoal. My husband tends to get happy toward the end of grilling season b/c I burn him out on it, but I love my charcoal grill. I grill burgers, hotdogs, steaks, chicken, pork chops, shrimp on it and he gets something grilled at least once a week during grilling season.

Charcoal! I even use black sea salt when I cook meat in the oven or on the stove because I love the taste. C:

I don't tend to care so much, really. As long as it's tasty!

I would say if i personally am grilling out i use charcoal, but a lot of the time when i'm at an event people use gas which tastes just as good in my opinion. However, I really love going camping for a good week and cooking everything over the camp fire. Usually do it every year now, last year we went to Saxon Harbor Wisconsin, right on Lake Superior, year before that was Madeline Island also on Lake Superior.

It really depends on what I'm craving; sometimes I just want that smokey taste over the clean one propane gives. They're both really good in my book.
