It was something called "Surprise Muffins," which our 6th grade home economics class had been taught. Needless to say, they weren't quite as surprising when I tried the same recipe out at home.

Sister and I made a box of chocolate cake mix while my father was sleeping. I think I was 7 and my sister 8. We had cake batter everywhere (mixer, wall, table, floor, clothes, fridge) and the cake slightly over cooked, but we made colored frosting castles from my mother's buttercream with piping bags that was for a professional cake for a party X-) and to us was the best cake we ever ate!! lol

The first thing I ever cooked with my mom was a pavlova, and it became my job to bake them when they were called for.
In school, the first thing we "cooked" was a salad. I think they were worried we would cut our fingers off...
