What's your personal favorite type of charitable thing to do for people outside your friends / family?

And provide examples / reasoning. The purpose here is to give people ideas on what they can do / perhaps should do in order to maximize possible utility for certain things they might want to accomplish.

Money and social problems are intertwined obviously. IT just helps to see which people might focus on, and what their reasoning is. Perhaps even the extended indirect things they might be attempting to accomplish.

Combination of international aid and education. I'll all for the Heifer Project, where communities are given animals and the education to sustainably raise and profit from them, and also spread out to other communities to expand the networking possibilities for small towns or rural areas

I always like to perform spontaneous generosities in life situations as I see them available.

Last charitable thing I did was pay for a couples meal at a Subway because their card got turned down and he was asking if he could pay the next day on his paycheque (Canadian, that spelling is correct here).

I also like to support and draw attention to causes and issues I care about, like gay rights and others.

I volunteer at an animal shelter every weekend. And I'm an editor at a children's book publishing house, so I also push for and create books about animal cruelty awareness, conservancy etc. It's not much, but it helps spread awareness and gets kids involve so hopefully the future will be positively affected when these kids grow up. I've also pitched a book for organ donation after I donated my kidney, so I hope that book works out. I also donate blood regularly

I donate blood fairly regularly, and I always try to contribute to any food and clothes drives I know about. When I see a pet food drive, I always buy some to donate as well. I'd love to donate some time to animal shelters and organizations that help people get the healthcare they need.
