I don't know if this is a healthy idea or not, but perhaps there can be a contest for pounds lost? Like for every 20 pounds lost you get a 15 dollar gift card? The only problem is that someone who doesn't need to lose weight might lose weight for a gift card. Also there's no way to monitor so people don't starve themselves.

Well, you've already heard some of my ideas. Of course, there were some concerns with truthfulness.

Weightloss, exercise logged, and nutritious meals eaten.
I was thinking also of "steps taken" contest. You could get a pedometer at the dollar store. Then log your steps every week.

Sure. I can send you that sour beer I told you about too. If only you could find a way to get me your guacamole...

Hope about something I could buy at the store...?
I think any meat has the potential to be really good, when made into jerky. I think the seasoning and marinade is what makes the jerky. My wife says that she has used the cheapest meat cuts and then used a pre-bought steak seasoning mix, it turned out real well.

Deer. Low in fat and no added junk. You can also use beef, you just need to trim it real good. I grind it up and the use a shooter to get the strips. Makes it easy to eat but your jaw still gets exercise.

That's been my concern as well.

I actually have a pedometer watch. I haven't used it lately though because I just got a HR Monitor watch for my birthday that I've been using while working out to track calories burned.

I do venison, because it's available. If you season it enough, turkey does remarkably well too. Beef could work (I don't eat it, personally), but you'd have to choose a cut that is really low in fat.
Thanks! I do have a dehydrator, too. I've made jerky, too, but I'm always looking for good ideas.

I wish my guacamole shipped well. However I can give you a list of the ingredients I normally use and how much I normally use. I kinda guess and go by taste most of the time when making it, lol.

Just eliminating junk food isn't maybe the best contest, because all the different people participating have different baselines. We should do something that everyone can participate in, so that it's relative to each person's 'normal'.

Something like, eating three different vegetables each day?

I think that no processed junk snacks would be good. But then, that is my own idea so of course I do.

But that way, for those who think they would cheat, if they wanted snacks for their week, they could make something as a backup and would know exactly what is in it.

LOL, I think she just wanted to make sure she wasn't showing favoritism with DWTim. Thanks though. My wife will end up appreciating it, I wonder what toy I can torture her with next. I mean "get" her next.

You can find pedometers on Amazon too. I bought some from there for family members for Christmas.

I think it would be great to have a thread or recipe thread for people with different dietary needs. There could be one for those who are gluton intolerant, vegetarian, etc.
