Have you thought about a "Healthy buddy" to talk to when you are having difficulties with the staying healthy? You know you can always talk my ear off if you ever need, whether it's healthy living issues or other. Talking it out always seems to help me.

I'm sorry to hear that

But it sounds like you're taking a step in the right direction to fix yourself back up again

It's actually made planning for this club a lot harder. I had hoped that I would be able to challenge myself more with my OWN contest, but I never got out as often as I wanted. I DID manage to get out and do stuff, but not as often as I should have. And the eating habits have just gone further and further downhill.

I stopped drinking sodas about 2 months ago but I have had a houseful of people for 2 weeks and have drank quite a few over the last week. I have to make the decision to not buy anymore, its hard though when you get stressed and get comfort from it.

Soda is big in this house because my husband mixes it in his drinks. It's so hard to stay away from.

Drink a lot of soda here too. I can go without it, but if it's in the house it's hard to resist... and it's pretty much always in the house whether if I'm the one who buys it or not!

It just settles right around my middle and stays there. The hubby is a biscuit shy of 300 and both of our teen boys are larger. The 13 yr old tested pre-diabetic last week so I know that will be a big motivator for us. I bought everything sugar-free that I could at the grocery store today.

I have, but I have a hard time being accountable to people who are not physically in my daily life. I also don't have too many friends who aren't in the same situation of needing to be healthier, but they don't actively want to be healthier. It makes it hard to say "I need to be healthier, can you help me?" when they have no intentions of being healthier. Yanno? Not making excuses, I've just tried that in the past

Late, but I'm caught up now.

Soda is a diet buster. If your husband won't abandon it, maybe he'll consider swapping out lower calorie sodas like flavored seltzer or Cascal?

Just arrived. What are we talking about? Soda? I only drink it when my stomach is upset. That's not my vice.

And I usually tend to stay away from anything that's made with artificial sweeteners because they tend to hinder weight loss. I figure if you're going to indulge, go all in.

me too, I have also had an eating disorder as a teen so I don't go on any crazy diet list where I can't have things.

I switched to a mostly vegan diet 2 weeks ago today. I haven't weighed myself at all, and have been basing my success on the measuring tape and have lost 5 inches on my waist so am pretty excited about that.

The kids have been so very reluctant to give up meat and dairy has been especially hard to eliminate. It doesn't help to not have anyone supportive nearby, and a Mother who brings bags of junk food for the kids when she comes over.

I haven't been successful at all in convincing my husband to drink less soda. We have so many cases of it in the house.

I drink water, beer, and on weekend mornings, 100% juice. There are a few sodas in the house, but they are for guests.

I've always been little, but now that I am 41 anything at all that I gain just attaches itself around my waist. I posted on the cooks forum if anyone has diabetic friendly recipes I would love to have them. I figure they will be good for everyone so the switch has to be made before the 13 yr old gets full blown diabetes.

I wish I knew some, but I honestly don't know enough about the disease to know what is good and what is bad as an ingredient.
