I can't think of anything off the top of my head. But my brain is also becoming frazzled lol.

Before I unveil this month’s photography theme, it’s time to award another gift card. As I used to teach at the college level, I have a thing for testing people on their reading assignments. The articles I write aren’t “assignments,” of course, but I want to try my best to get you to read them because I truly feel they will help your photography. So, ready?

Nope. I actually don't own a flash. Don't like them for my photographic genre.
I personally hate flash but it's a necessary evil at times. My camera (450D) has one built in, and it's the most aggravating thing ever.

But back to your photo. I love the misty look of the water, and the juxtaposition of the green moss and black rocks.

I just think it's slightly overexposed.

You're quite welcome. I *love* teaching, so if you or anyone has any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to ask.

To be honest I kow there are probably horrifying distractions in this photo but I really like it! It seems to breathe and the flow of motion gives me a great feeling that makes me want to simply look at all the elements. This is the type of picture that makes the viewer want to come back and then to see some new element they missed last time.

I particularly like that the color, light and shadows on the trees give the feeling of movement that compliments the small waterfalls in the foreground. The still water gives the picture a dreamy quality that evokes, for me, the sound of bird song and insect music. (Good grief ask a writer for a critique right?)

If I take pictures like this I consider them finished!

The first person to get this one right will win the $25 GC. What is the name given to significant areas of your photo that are mostly devoid of features and/or multiple colors?

No need when the exact model you want is on hold at the store and all he has to do is ask the clerk for it and pay.

That’s correct Ivy Wilde! Congratulations on winning the $25 gift card! The areas of your photo that don’t contain recognizable features or contrasting colors is referred to as negative space.

OK, the second to last thing tonight is to announce the theme for this month’s photo critiquing. This month we tried something new and I had everyone vote on the theme they wanted to see. If your choice didn’t get selected this time, I’ll recycle many of the entries that weren’t selected for next time, so maybe it will be chosen then. So, based on popular vote, the theme for this month is…water! So, using what you learned reading the article and what I covered tonight, photograph anything that suggests water. Lakes, bathtubs, clouds, dew, mist,, rain, streams, oceans…those are just a few of the forms water comes in, so use your imagination and get the best photo you can.
As always, you can submit photos for critiquing to and critique other photos at the Eden Photographers tumblr site. Should you require further direction on how to submit the photos and critique photos, check out the critiquing article on the Eden Clubs and Events blog.

The final thing I want to mention is the special announcement to which I have been alluding. Eden Photographers has been granted permission to publish an EdenFantasys calendar that will include your pictures. I can’t get into all the details just yet, but I will fill you in more in the coming weeks. We will also have a special informal meeting/thread where we (and by we I mean anyone on EF) will get together and come up with possible themes for each month. That’s all I can say right now, but this is a great opportunity for everyone on EF who loves photography.
