This could be fun, but it's waaay out of the ordinary for my writing... could call this stretching my literary wings

that would be funny, but I would end up with some kind of half-lost story, like my one about cows. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

That is a great suggestion and leads to the other thing we need to decide on: How many submissions can each writer submit a month. Should there be a limit? Should there be a minimum?

There will be a time limit since we need the submissions before the next meeting and in time to get them posted...thoughts?

Like 2 relatively safe topics to choose from as well as the totally off the wall zombie one if one wanted? I'd be ok with that. It'd give those who don't want to write about such murder and mayhem an extra option.

Hi - sorry I'm late!

Alien cherubs and the apocalypse do sound like interesting topics

I think we should have a limit because we don't want you to be overwhelmed with posting etc. PLUS, it is easier to read everyone's if there are less.

I think a minimum of 1 story per person to give those who don't have a lot of time on their hands a reasonable goal to achieve. And for a max, maybe 3? Or one story per topic?

I think that there should be a limit to the number of submissions any author can make in a month, just with the purpose of ensuring that we each submit our best work.

Three weeks? That would give about a week before the meeting to get them posted and read. Will there be a thread that's like "January Submissions" where we all go and post them?

I would say for now, two, maybe three submissions per writer should be plenty. It's a lot to read if there are 100s of submissions.

I write at night as well, but the majority of my writing as of late has been academic writing, my reviews, and journaling. I strongly believe that keeping a daily (or nightly) journal is the key to helping me stay sane. Lol.

I also love to read, but the only things I have been able to read are, again, reviews, and assigned literature from school. I really really want to join the Naked Reader Book Club but I don't want it to turn out like my porn club escapade, lol

I think two or three would be for the best.

This sounds reasonable and allows for those of us who are more verbiose time to proof and get it "perfect".

So we are all agreed that three topics would be best? Maybe two sort of run of the mill theme stuff and one crazy/weird one?

Well I have to finish cooking dinner, and eat, of course. I'm not sure how late this is going to run. But I will try to pop back in as soon as I can.

I think having a minimum is not a good idea. Things happen and everyone should be able to hang out, read the submissions, and enjoy the club. HOWEVER, I think that in order to submit your piece, it must be complete.

I hate be the lame one here, but Valentine's day is important to my boyfriend and I. Since I am unsure of what he has planned, I am also unsure if I would be able to make it. He comes first. So... that being said, can we still submit?

LMAO I love how alien appocalypse is instilled with V Day!

Seeing as I am currently infatuated with someone I will be voting for writing about love found, or lust. I could also go on a spiel about commercialism of holidays!

I agree. I don't like the idea of having a minimum. I plan on writing, but what if someone just enjoys reading?

Well... ok, maybe it could be an early version of what will be a later story... I just mean complete in that it is a finished effort.

You would not submit the poem:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
????
that's all I got

I could EASILY go on a commercialism rampage editorially.

I'm really thinking about the whole lust/love found thing too. (I too have a crush... that is NOT a secret from my husband)

We will have a place set up for us by Gary and his amazing team to showcase us properly. (I am sounding like a diva writer now aren't I?) We'd like to have a good week to read everything so our deadline this month would be Feb 7.

We'll all send Gary either a link to a piece we've written before that we'd like to enter or a copy of the pieces we have just written. Be sure to include Eden Lit as the subject line.
