I just read that and aww.

Karen, you are an amazingly strong woman, and I'm not sure I would have handled the same situations as well as you. *lots of hugs* and pass some to Miguel for being so awesome too

OK so we need to choose some topics for next month. I propose changing 'Story Continuation' to an open topic. A sort of free for all...write what you will thing.

We should do something possibly patriotic for the July meeting.

Maybe Summer love as another topic?

I like the idea of a free for all.

Something patriotic for July could be a really good idea too.

And summer love.

Oh hell, I think there might have been maybe 2 topics I haven't liked in the whole time we've been doing this lol.

Absolutely. I haven't been in many relationships, but looking back I shoulda high-tailed it out of my last one instead of letting it drag on. He was horrible for me and I didn't recognize it as any kind of abuse until way later when I started learning about all the little things that really are abusive. It wasn't that bad by any means, and I almost feel like I can't really talk about it because it did end up being such an insignificant part of my life once we broke up.

You know what? You can't base how awful something was n how horrible someone else's life was. You lived YOUR experience and it was bad enough that you cherish your husband more for it. See? You had to go throgh some hell of your own to be ready to go back to your guy.

I hate talking about all the horrible scars, but it is so much a part of how I became the person I am today....it is hard to avoid. I learned so much about resilience when I am forced to tell my story, cuz I didn't shrivel up and die, ya know. I am still here and I still have the capacity to love.

For me it wasn't ever physical, but it was emotional and psychological. I've still got a few of the psychological hangups, but I'm pretty well adjusted all the same.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother and I'm glad she didn't stay in that.

It's a very hard thing both to get out of the relationship, then out of the need that drove you toward that bad relationship and then to be able to TRUST a new and better person....I tip my hat to all the ladies who manage it.
