Fanfiction

I've been reading fanfiction since age 11, been writing it since age 13.

Does anyone else read/write it? What is your opinion on it?

Just curious.

I fund fanfiction through my 17 year old you is an anime fanatic. I actually enjoy it and would love to be able to write it. Officer Oddy on EF writes fanfiction as well and I have seen a growing market for it. I think it would be a wonderful addition to our club writings as well.

I don't mind fanfiction so long as there are no conflicts with copyrights. What I would like to do is start some serial type writing were we elect someone or (someones) to continue a story line....would be sort of like fan fiction with no worry about offending an author!

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I have seen alot of fanfiction around and never thought about the copyright issue. Can we discuss this at tomorrows meeting?

I actually did a project on this in high school.

Most creators are okay with it as long as 1) you don't shove them in their faces for them to see and 2) you don't sell your work for profit. Granted, there's exceptions (e.g. Anne Rice, Archie Comics, etc.) but the most part the original creators see it mostly as "holy shit people actually like my work! ".

I've been writing fanfiction since long before I knew there was a name for it. I began posting at maybe age 15? Or maybe 14. I was reading since 12.

I started with simple stories then moved on to adult fanfiction.

I have well over 100 stories total, at this point, because many have been deleted (due to the new format rules on some of the sites) and to my dismay, all of the adult stories I'd posted on one particular site were deleted because I'd written then before I was 18.

Oh wow, that sucks on the adult stories being deleted. I only recently started writing adult fanfic, and even then it's mostly subtle stuff.

I currently have "76" on my fanfiction.net resume, but several of those are also one-shot/drabble collections. So I'm well past 100 fics as well. XD

I have had this terrible habit on fanfiction.net as well of one-shots one after another, and then starting great ones that I lose interest in or become distracted by said one-shots!

I read and write it, in general I like it but some people can get a touch annoying if they have a mary sue/gary stu OC in love with one of the characters. It's okay as long as the overall story is good though.
