Ok, here is something to think about.

Would you rather a club where writers could discuss things that they have written, OR would you rather get together, decide on topics, write about them, and then share and compare?
The latter sounds better to me. We could, if we like, use something we have started if it fits the theme, but then, if there are "assignments" we could then have a base to all start in the same place.

I'm really for the "Have a topic, everyone writes about it, then share" point-of-view. Plus, we if we end up doing erotica, I could put it on my blog. I'd be more motivated to write something then which kinda sounds like fun to me. I'm still really for the erotica idea too.

And definitely extremely for the stocking of Susie Bright's book too. I always think about buying it, but I just haven't done it yet.

I'm paranoid too. I won't submit any of my previous writings either, but I would try to write something for the club. I've never written erotica and I don't know if I can. That book does sound useful.

I'm definitely one of the ones that brought this up - I did start to put together a proposal, but life got in the way!

What I would like to see is a dedicated section in the forums for writers to post work or ideas for feedback. Alongside that, I would love to see a monthly meeting where we can pick a topic, brainstorm ideas and be set with the task of coming up with some thing fitting the theme. It would be really nice if the theme was broad enough that people could write in a variety of genres - erotic fiction, poetry, journalism, etc.

I am definitely willing to help moderate and organize. I like to write journalistic pieces, erotic fiction as well as poetry. I'm working towards writing music as well... I don't mind publishing previous work that is already available online, since I always work under the same name.

There are some great ideas here! I would definitely love to hear the rest of your proposal! Send me what you have so far! gary@edenfantasys.com

This also makes me think of a few more questions:
- Would people share their writing on individual forum threads if there was a dedicated section?
- Do most of you have blogs as well?
- Should the writing group stay on the forum, or extend into blogs?
- If the writing group interested people who did not have blogs (but wanted to start blogs), would everyone be interested interested in a separate 'blogger round table' where everyone from beginners to pros could get together and swap blog advice, feedback, code, program recommendations, etc?

I knew I forgot something...

What if we had 2-3 topics each month. That way there would be a little bit more variety for everyone to choose from, and also this would give the more ambitious writers more to work with. (just a thought)

Anyone else have any ideas? Or is it time to schedule a date and have a showdown about what's what?

Maybe 2 topics to choose from.. but I like the idea of having a prompt to write from each month.

I like both actually. But I really only like the second option for short stories or poetry.

I'd be more interested in doing a kind of prompt-based type of thing. Having a topic, or quote, and then each person can write on it according to their personal style.

For instance: Threesomes.

One person could write an editorial-type piece on what kind of impact it has (or whether they've ever tried it)

Another person could write an erotic piece.

Another person could write poetry.

(See where I'm going with this?)

There's always a way!

I tend to write editorial, opinion-based pieces a lot; but I would like to venture into the fiction world more. This is a way that I can do both. I would venture to say that there are lots of writers here on EF that are interested in trying different styles.

I've been following this thread for a bit. It sounds pretty interesting so far. I think I would like to join in.

A couple of things...I don't have a blog. And I've never written any fiction. Not sure if I could. I like BBW's idea about people writing according to their personal style. I also like the idea of more than one topic per month to pick from.

I'm curious....What were you thinking the purpose of this Writer's Club would be?

The purpose? It was a suggestion brought up many times by various contributors, so I feel that the purpose would vary from person to person. I think it will be a great, positive, and productive activity for the community.

This is an idea that many of you have suggested in the past, and recently during the CEC meetings. So let's do it!

What I need from you:

- Who is interested in joining ?
- What date / time / frequency should we get ... more
I'm thinking maybe a poetry section could be included as well as some other forms of writing.

I am envisioning both a showcasing of our community talent and a place where people who want some help or gentle critique can work with a friend. We have so many talented people here that I feel we could all use the club as a clearing house of information on how to organize thoughts and visions into words on paper.

I'd love to see a place where writers of all disciplines can come together and learn from each other. A true writer's round table!

I can't believe I missed this post! Have I been under a rock? I love the prompt idea each month. Sign me up!

I really like Miss Kay's idea for the annual EF erotica collection. I just finished a New Years Eve story and was wondering what to do with it. It would be amazing for us to be able to submit stories and possibly see them in print! That would be a heck of a Christmas present.

I am pretty new... and not certain if I have the right idea...

But what about blogs. Taking an interesting blog post from say the past month, everyone read it, then discuss it like a book club meeting. Could be about any topic then, and not limited to just one idea. This way it gets people thinking, reading, socialising, and when the idea takes off, sub groups can form.

I would be interested in participating.

I think having a few topics 2-3 per month would be good, but have it completely open as to what form the writing takes: essay, poem, story, editorial, haiku

Ideally, I'd like to see something set up like the personal stores except instead with writing. That way anyone can post anything they want to share without being confined to a theme or number of entries. Sort of a freeform thing.
