Yes each of them do have a special meaning. I did a research paper on them a long time ago and grew my own rose bush for the project. Man were those the days.
I once had a boyfriend who got me a different bouquet of roses every other week. We dated for almost a year... I saved one from each bunch and still have them! I had every color imaginable. He ruined roses for me...

Oh, yeah, that's a great solution. Don't put the asshole in jail, but force him to things for his wife so he'll resent her even more later. That judge is an idiot.

In Victorian times it was considered bad luck to sign a Valentine's Day card.

In Wales, wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favorite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, "You unlock my heart!"

It wasn't until 1537 that St. Valentine's Day was declared an official holiday. England's King Henry VIII declared February 14th a holiday.

On February 14, 1779, Captain James Cook, the great English explorer and navigator, was murdered by natives of Hawaii during his third visit to the Pacific island group.

I would be mad to get one of those.. I consider those "family" gifts not for you or your significant other.. I never understood why my dad buys my mom kitchen appliances for holidays when the whole family uses and needs them. Not just her.

My Kindle Fire is like my 4th child. I baby it, carry it in a special carrier, and never leave it unattended

I remember carnations for Valentine's Day in middle school. Our school couldn't afford roses, so that was their fundraiser.

I've seen my mom get happier over a sewing machine and a grease-spatter-shield as gifts than a new car, myself (but my kinfolk are kind of old fashioned).

Thanks for the link! I'll have to see if I can get a group of my friends together for that. I think they'd love it.

Why was it bad luck to sign a V-day card? Any more info on that one?

I would hurt hubby for that. I'd also buy him a lawn mower.
