I voted $15-$20 but after reading everyone's responses, I think I would change my vote back down to the $10-15 range. When you factor in shipping, I don't want to dip into ... more
Thanks for making the example list, I also agree that having a $5 incriment range seems fair. If we could have this the week before Christmas that would be wonderful. Like Beck mentioned some of us might be out of town for the holidays.

I was planning on participating last year and something came up, don't remember what. I have been excited for it to happen again this year! I think $10-$15 is a good price range. If I could modify this I'd say $13-$18 because there are quite a few good little items in the $7-$12 range plus $6 shipping. Each order will also get a free item

Is it an option to give a gift card so that the shipping can be avoided? Although, I like getting presents, and not gift cards really, but I'm sure that there are other people that are saving up for things and stuff. Can gift cards be added to wish lists?

Gift cards start at $25, so it would be over the amount chosen. Then again, if the person you got had a $25 gift card in their list and the $15 - $20 price range is what is chosen, then I guess ya could give the person the whole $25 so they get the shipping value too. Not a bad idea.

I'd actually prefer the gift card to put towards a higher priced item. But it still costs $1 for postage overseas on the GC's.

I totally agree because... uhm... I am absolutely broke broke broke. Pretty much all the money I will even make at my job next month will go straight into bills. Points are all I have on this site right now and I cashed in all $55 worth except for 17 cents, so I'm rebuilding and only at about $6 right now.

I'd LOVE to participate in Secret Santa but I just... it's not fiscally possible with or without my points. And it hurts me just to admit that. I am struggling to even live paycheck to paycheck right now and I'm pretty positive I'm not the only one. :-/

Ooo... forgot about the free item, that makes it even more fun!

I loved doing this last year. Unfortunately the person I got didn't get her order for months, even though I ordered it that night. We did eventually get it shipped out to her. It was fun though, picking something for some one else based on their wish list. I agree that it took up too much time of the party, and having the whole week before Christmas would be nice because my weekend will be too busy to be online for anything.

I think this is much easier now that we have the "send as gift" option.

I'd do it. I have a whole huge wishlist of stuff that would work for that price range. The gift registry makes it a lot easier to pick something for someone that they'll like and can use and such.

I have a question. If the SALE price of the item is within that range, does it count? I'm assuming not since the actual value of it would be higher, right?

I'm in. I was at the party last year, but my name was over looked so I didn't get to participate. I have a sugestion to make picking out an item easier...

- For those who can and are participating in the Secret Santa that they make a wish list with items that they would like within what ever price range is decided. And title it "Secret Santa Wish List" or "For my Secret Santa"

Also I agree with Lauren about the Free Gift. As long as all of the Secret Santas remember to add the Free Gift to their order everyone will recieve 2 items. And most of the time the free items are nicely priced themselves. For example if you can participate but are unable to aford the whole price the Free Gift will help you out a little bit.

I just hope that everyone will have a good time at the party either way. Oh and I think it should be either the weekend before or the week of Christmas because I am going out of town on the 23rd and won't be home till late on Christmas Day. I can't wait!!!!

Ok so I have an idea about the whole shipping issue, maybe eden can set up a special one time use code for free shipping for all users, but when you use the code it sends an alert to administration and adds a balance that you owe shipping. So you only pay for the shipping of your own item that someone is sending you, that way no one gets randomly picked to ship to out of the US and gets stuck with the charges and if the people who live out of the states do not want to pay that cost for just one item, they just do not participate. I think that made sense, it was just a thought.

I think it should be the 15-20 dollar range and maybe when you do your wishlist add the free items that you would prefer also, that way you don't get something that you already have.

I thought about this a little more and the better way to do it would eden have make codes like:

Santa-contributor' s Screen name
Example Santa-beck

So whoever is sending the gift to me would use this code and it would ring up like a usual order for that person, but the shipping people would know not to send it too whoever paid for it, but to me.

Hey I totally wouldn't mind a gift card. I'm in Canada so the sender wouldn't have to worry about shipping in that case.

Huh, this seems pretty awesome, especially with the $10-15 range for gifts. I'd certainly participate in this.

This sounds pretty cool, especially now that we have the gift registry. I like the idea of $10-15. Not too low, but still great for broke students or people in general that still want to participate. Would prefer buying weekend before Christmas since that gives about a week until the holiday, and I'm flying out to family that holiday weekend.

I'd love to do this. Especially if EF gives a shipping gift card to those who have to send a present out of country. I'm in Canada and UPS shipping here isn't bad but a gift card(like was mentioned) would definitely help.

I love a secret santa! Maybe just make everyone that participates make a secret santa wishlist? That way items are all in the price range. I do not want giftcards, I can never commit to buy myself something. Please keep us posted as to how this will all work.
