Oh wow, I don't know if B&N will be around by the time my kids are in high school! I love bookstores, all kinds, and hate to see any of them close.

I need more of Sacchi's work! I have read so little, and is such an awesome woman!

I am so glad that you have stuck around since your interview Sacchi! Even more excited that you will be here regularly!

I do that too, I've just worn out my copy of Earth Are Easy. What does that say about me?

I read it all, but I do think that for people who don't always, the roman numerals just helps them to skip ahead. So if you don't want that, then I would suggest using regular numbers.

I always read the introduction on short story collections. I like getting a peak into the editor's head and their motivations for choosing the stories.

Me, too. Well worn books — John Albert's Wrecking Crew (over and over and over). I honestly can't read the book enough, and I have no idea why.
Some of my favourites are Poe. I absolutely love E.A.Poe. The Fall of the House of Usher is just fantastic!

I re-read my favorites over and over. But I like finding new stuff to enjoy as well.

Brenda, didn't you do a poetry reading, too, last week? Inspired by the Beat tradition? Bay Area people have all the fun! Just seeing the event listing on Facebook inspired me to re-read (well, listen to on tape on a long car trip) Dharma Bums.
That is so cool, Sacchi Glad you found inspiration. I did do a BEAT reading with some greats including ruth weiss, who survived the Holocaust, got to America and was the innovator of reading poetry to jazz. ruth is REALLY bad ass!

No night would be complete without a plethora of typos.

Did any of the stories in this collection strike anyone as out of place?

That reminds me of something sad. There was this great children's bookstore when my kids were growing up in Illinois. They did projects, readings, authors. My daughter got her "Sarah Plain and Tall" autographed by Patricia MacLachlan. She never forgot that.

Well the recession hit and they closed their doors a couple of years ago. When my granddaughter who lives with us was born, I used to take her there, and couldn't wait til she was old enough to get to do all those wonderful things. And now she won't.

I don't really look at the numbers at all, so it doesn't make a difference to me whether they are roman or Cyrillic.

I begin reading and if the intro doesn't hook me I skip to the stories before I get bored and put the book down. It isn't that I don't appreciate the work put into it, but sometimes an intro can be far too serious and totally change my mood before I get to the story. This is why I often come back and read them later, when I am already enjoying the book.

I read books from cover to cover so it really doesn't phase me how the pages are numbered or listed. If I have nothing to read I will read shampoo bottles lol!

I'll vote something else. While I can appreciate the writing, the ending was so bitter... I don't think I care for bitter in my erotica.

Black Lace used to publish a line on their copyright page that stated, "Black Lace publishes sexual fantasy. In real life, please practice safe sex." Or something along those lines.

I liked that, because if you can't have sex with a stranger on the beach in a book, when *can* you have sex with a stranger on a beach?

(Oh, god, all those strangers on beaches I've had sex with are going to start posting comments, now, aren't they?)

The tradition seems to be to number the front matter pages with lower-case Roman numerals. I winder whether it's the lower-case part that seems to make them skippable--as though they weren't as important as the rest.

I haven't read it yet but based on Petite Valentine's comment I don't think I will. Bitter really isn't what I'm coming for.
