Faux leather

I recently reviewed a harness for Eden from Aslan leather. It was part of the Pleasure principle kit . The properties listed by Eden were listed as "faux leather." I actually looked at the web site and the material felt like leather to me. Are your harnesses leather or a close approximation. How would someone tell?
