Small Silk Damaged -- But how?

Contributor: Lady of the Lab Lady of the Lab
I've had a Tantus Small silk since mid-December and it seems to already be damaged (or worn out?). I have stored it with a dildo from a different company (Vixen Creations); however because both are high quality silicone, I assumed there wouldn't be an issue.

The dildo is question looks like the silicone has been smeared off, especially around the tip. I have only used water-based lube and my cleaning methods have been either spraying with a toy cleaner or 10% bleach solution.

Has anyone else seen this kind of damage before?

If you stored them together with nothing separating them then there was more then likely a reaction which is why it states not to use silicone lubes with silicone toys. Same concept don't store them together where they will touch each other as they can and will melt together if you aren't careful. Sorry you have a ruined toy.

It seems like it must have reacted with your other dildo. While it's generally a rule that it's okay to store two high quality toys together, as most quality brands cure their silicone in the same way, there must be a difference in the Tantus VS Vixskin silicone. Was it a dual density toy or anything?

Never had that happened to me. I separate my silicone dildos with the stainless steel ones in-between, and individually bag the ones I don't use often, so my silicone toys never get to touch each other.

Nope, just regular density. Lesson learned & something I'll include in my reviews

Yeah, both of the dildos have been ruined accidentally. However, the silver lining is thas I've learned two valuable lessons: most condoms have silicone-based lubricant and to store silicone toys separately. Plus I have a pic that shows what damaged silicone looks like...

May we see the picture?

I always keep my dual density stuff separate, but I've never had a problem with firm silicone touching before

The picture is in the introductory post, the bolded pink link. I'm sad because I haven't had either of the dildos (Small silk and Mistress) for very long

We store our silicone toys together with zero fear of them damaging each other. Cured silicone simply will not melt just from coming into contact with other silicone toys. It sounds like yours may have come into contact with silicone lube or a lubricated condom.

However, I have heard the toys made from jelly or other inferior materials can actually melt if stored in contact with each other.
