Laura Doone is an example of how being hairy was sexy back in the 70's. Is that look coming back in style? What do you think, are women who go natural more sexy than their shaven counterparts?
What do you think of women who keep their intimate hair natural?

Personally, I like clean shaven. I like to see my junk and I love all that soft skin.
But it does seem that the natural look is making a bit of a comeback and that's cool, too.
I like it best when folks are comfy with whatever they decide to do.

Personally I find hair down there quite impractical for certain activities. Clean shaven or a "landing strip" is just perfect for me.

I used to go with the natural look, but I've been clean shaven for a while now, and I'm starting to prefer it.
I think either way it's sexy.

I trim but don't shave. It's just not for me!

I'm with Carrie Ann. Whatever makes a person comfy is best. And that's what is sexy to me.

I find bush on a woman very womanly. But, you know, if its not there, the breasts also have the same effect.
I know for a fact I am not turned on by very petite girls with small cup sizes that shave completely, but other than that, clean shaven is very nice too.

It seems old-fashioned to me. And less attractive if there's a high contrast between the skin and hair colors. No offense meant to au naturel people out there. I'm in the high-contrast zone and I don't know how I stood having all that hair down there years ago. I'm happily bare now. ^_^

I prefer to be trimmed up to 1/4-1/8" and try to never let it get past 3/4" for when I'm REALLY lazy. I've found that being clean shaven for me makes it harder for me to orgasm and just makes things too slickly feeling for me.
As for what I think about it being natural, I think that it should be trimmed up to some extent just like most ladies would do with the hair on their head.

To each their own - for people not in entertainment, it is definitely a very personal choice. I'm going to echo a few of the sentiments in this thread and agree, I think comfort is key. I think even natural gals trim their bikini line and overall length for their own comfort.
08/03/2009
Comfort is, as many have said, key for me. You need to be happy with yourself; they're YOUR genitals, after all!
Personally, I trim very low and let it grow out for a week or two. Trimming is very practical IMO because it's quick and easy, and it keeps the area clean.

Agree with it being a personal choice.
I am not turned on or off by very natural hair styling in pornographic material. On some it is beautiful. There was recently a spread of an "older" actress in Playboy who was sporting a shaped natural style that I thought was really sexy.
In my female-bodied partners I prefer at least trimmed low. This is mostly because I want to keep my hands free for other stimulation while performing oral on them, rather than having to use a hand to part their hair.
I do agree with Red though - completely shaven young, small women turn me off. They just look too young for me.

I'm almost 50 and didn't start shaving until this year. I was never extremely hairy down there anyway. But my hubby wanted me to do it and now we both prefer it shaved.

I don't think it could be considered "old fashioned" because that really doesn't make sense. It's natural to have hair down there, so to have hair shouldn't be considered old fashioned like it's something that no one does anymore. I don't think it's wrong to have hair or to shave. I've shaved in the past and may do it again in the future. But right now, I just trim it and that's comfortable for me. I agree with most people on this thread, it is a personal choice and neither choice is the wrong one.

I can understand that it might look awkward if it highly contrasts with your skin and head hair color.

Of course it's natural to have hair down there. No debate there. But, while I haven't done research on this, I'd bet that a century ago we didn't have as many women shaving themselves bare or trimming or waxing. I'd bet almost everyone was pretty hairy, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Now, though, there are waxing salons, depilatory creams, awesome tiny razors for the bikini line, and laser hair removal treatments. We have options. And a lot of women choose to alter their natural look. I don't know what percentage of women are still going natural, but I'd bet it's at least a handful of women fewer than back in the 1890s.
So, to me, it seems old fashioned, and I don't mean that in a bad/negative way at all.

I call certain things old fashioned but for some reason that just strikes me as .... not applicable? But I can understand what you mean by how there is more of a market for it, more women doing it, etc...

I was pretty much bs'ing my way through the actual statistics and history of it.
I'd also call myself old fashioned for making bread and cookies from scratch, or for preferring cars without automatic locks and windows. Although if I were really old fashioned I guess I'd prefer a horse as my mode of transportation.

I don't have any need for the women I am with to be shaven but trimmed is nice. If the hair is too long you need to figure out how to push it out of the way and that takes away from the moment. I personally keep myself short for that reason, and as a small escape from the heat of summer. I do think it is sexiest though when a women is shaven, not my much but it just does something for me

You know, to be honest, I would probably be more willing to pay for waxing if I had longer inner labia. I know that sounds silly, but I really only enjoy the bare look (personally) if you really CAN see more. If you're like me and you only have half of one inner labia and it's rather small, you just get that "camel toe" look with no pink poking out at all, and I think it's kind of ridiculous. But when a woman has longer inner labia, even if just the tips of the labia stick out, it looks so nice.
But again, at the end of the day, I like whatever makes people most comfortable.

I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but I don't really "think" anything of women that keep their "intimate hair" natural. It's not really anyone's business what a woman does with her hair unless it directly affects you (ie. you're having sex with them). I agree with what people have said about it being a personal choice. I think far more emphasis is put on body hair than is necessary, particularly in the U.S. and it's a bit silly, for me personally. Again, I don't mean for this to sound rude, but I think that people take it for granted that other people's bodies are somehow public domain. They are not. The choices people make about their bodies --how they eat, how they keep their hair, all of that --are personal and very private. It reminds me of the way people talk about people that are more curvy, as if they are somehow entitled to make judgments about them because of it.
I personally don't shave but I do trim, though I've dated and had sex with women and men that ran the gamut in terms of hair-dos. I have never had a problem with going down on someone that had long hair, you just need to be a bit more diligent about things. I also kind of dislike the way that women that shave and those that don't are sort of pit against one another: "who is sexier?" It's another divisive strategy that focuses women on competing with one another instead of being happy within themselves. In closing, I want to say again that I don't mean to be offensive or attack anyone, I just wanted to call attention to these things.

Permanent, for me. I went with laser hair removal, and though the treatments hurt, there are only maybe a dozen if that, and then that's it forever! Personally, I just couldn't stand having hair down there. I have light skin and dark hair, especially down There. I have nothing against hair, though, for those that have it. It's totally cool with me. I just went a different route.

I totally agree with Victoria saying "To each their own". It's your body.. do with it whatever makes you feel best!
08/06/2009
I agree it's each to their own and, much like the hair on our heads, what style looks best is a personal opinion and will vary depending on who's looking. For myself, I like to keep things trimmed close for both hygiene and comfort, but I don't like to be bald. I have sensitive skin, so the razor bumps and discomfort when it starts to grow back is not worth it. Not to mention I felt foolish having it nakey like a 10-year-old during the few times I did shave it. That's just me though.
08/06/2009
I'm a fan of shaving (or waxing, or whatever) but even just trimming it neat and short is good enough. I hate having a thick mat of hair between my mouth and my intended target, so completely natural is not sexy to me.
08/06/2009
I line up with the personal choice option. I have been shaving since I was about 18, tried designs but too often just fucked it up. Now I am clean shaven and totally comfortable with it. Also found guys like it as there is no picking hair out of their mouth when they go down on me.
I am so accustomed to shaving, I just do it.

Until recently I just did the closely-trimmed thing, but I now choose the clean shaven route and I love it. I also like to see my junk and hubbie likes it as well. Plus it's nicer for him when performing oral sex on me.

Well, I used to stay completely clean shaven until a dated a man who had 3 little girls. Before we had sex, he actually requested that I not shave it all. He said he needed to clearly/quickly differentiate between a girl and a woman. I compromised by only shaving the lower part and keeping a wide noticeable landing strip. Since then that's been the best! I love the clean undercarriage but really knowing that I'm a woman!!

Anthropologist Desmond Morris likened hair to "primitive scentwicks". People who are more hirsuite are "displaying" their phemorones more actively.
Personally, I like totally shaved. Hair can also retain moisture, sweat, and if you are athletic or live in a hot climate it can be a bacteria festival. I like my partners shaved so I can see the general area. Sure, I can't see internally (the percentage of people out there who are herpes simplex2 positive or HPV pos is staggering, and it can hide on the cervix instead of the outer genetailia)but I like to see a healthy exterior.
