Customs Invasion!! Canada

Contributor: Jordan B Jordan B
I'd like to start by saying that I'm not mad or upset with EF because it's not their fault.

Since I'm in Canada, sometimes I have to pay customs fees for international packages, which I had to pay for this time and that is to no surprise to me. So when I looked at my package I noticed something special on the box. With the customs fee slip there was a message on it saying: "Opened/Ouvert".

I was curious and called the Canadian Border Agency. They said that sometimes they open the packages that come through and when they do, they reseal it with tape that has CBSA printed on it. This wasn't the case with this package. The agent told me that it could be Canada Post that opened the package.

I haven't inquired about this to Canada Post but has anything like this happened to anyone else? What could be the reason for them to go through it?

Ugh that's horrible! I get angry enough at the customs fees after already paying up the ass for shipping that I'd be furious with such an invasion of privacy.

I've had an EF package opened by customs before, it had the yellow tape on the box. I've never had Canada Post open anything though, and I'm not sure why they would need to.

That's three times I've paid custom duty for parcels! When u purchase a you or what not u pay enough for it including shipping that u should not have to pay duty at this end on it either!
I've never had a percel opened YET. I've only used postal service once n it took three weeks. UPS switches over to the purolator courrier in Canada and that's who ships the parcels to me here.

It still sucks! We get it up the ass both ways!

ups is the only company I've had charge me extra. Now I'll only use usps and I haven't got any more fee's.
