It is a social networking site. Many of us chat outside of Eden and many of us chat internally through the messaging system and on our walls. We now have new online/offline indicators and there are a ton of projects, workshops, meetings, and parties that keep us all involved and together.
The only thing missing is the ability to blog on our profiles about what we're doing and what not, but that's kind of what the reviews and the forums are for, in my opinion.
You can post pictures in the forum, on your wall, in your bio, in your reviews, on product pages.
You can chat via the messaging system, on the forum, on your wall. Or outside of Eden.
Your bio is just as detailed as you want it to be and includes places for your favorite links, favorite products, favorite interviews, resources, and Sexis articles.
Updates? That little blurb next to your user name on the your profile page...that's your place to update how you feel or what you're doing for the day.
You can add favorite contributors and only look at the things they post.
You can get email notifications when a favorite contributor posts a new review.
Am I forgetting anything?
EF is about trust and confidentiality, there are a lot of amazing people on here and I feel like most of them would not be as open and honest and friendly if it were more socialized. Edens protects us and allows us to make our own individual decisions on what we want to choose to do as far as interacting, personal info, etc. That should be treasured!!
I love EF the way it is - not to say it can't use improvements but this would be a whole change in focus.
I do "social networking" with folks on here anyway by posting on their wall and vice versa and I've made some online "friends" that are maybe more of acquaintances but I do care about them and love to chat with them.
I think having social networking sites is great - just not for EF.
So, for me, what we have here is perfect. Sex toys in their own place, and the social abilities that this site already provides is great for me.
Mileage and all that.
But we have many wonderful member who are helpful and friendly in the forum.
another way is to list your facebook, twitter, etc links on your profile. alot of networking and socializing comes about by linking those up.
