I just wanted to make a suggestion for a really cool feature

Contributor: ToyGurl ToyGurl
I think it would be really nice if we could have some sort of small (not anything loud and not a holiday jingle) but just a small beep when we get a wall comment, or a message in our inbox. It would help me because it's annoying to have to go to my e-mail to see if I got msgs, and I am never able to know if someone commented my wall.

Anyone like this idea?

Glad you thik so! I just thought this would be nice because I hate getting on and realizing that I have comments and messages that are over 4 days old! Especially if they are urgent questions referring to a product that I've tried.

No, actually I don't like that idea at all. I hate all computer related sounds. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a little (#) next to our user name on the top right-hand corner when we get private messages.

It wouldn't bother me any because I always have my volume on mute unless I need it. I would rather see a visual notification though. Stormy has a great idea too.

I think it would be cool - or at least I'd give it a try. Perhaps it should be something that you could either set to on or off for those you don't like such sounds.

I agree with this

I'd be on board with the idea of having a number pop up next to the name to alert of messages and the like, but I'm pretty against having a noise of some sort. I always have this page up, even when I'm doing other stuff like watching TV shows online, or hanging around Youtube, or talking on the phone if I get a call while I'm at the computer, and even though a noise may not be that loud, it would be enough to irritate me. And the point of it being there if I turned it off would be? lol

I'm not sure who you have for email, but I know gmail (at least used to) have a notifier that you could download and it would basically let you know when you have a new email, a lot like Outlook does. I find that really helps a lot with keeping up on emails. Oh! Or just keeping the email open in a separate tab

I remedy this situation by having Windows Live Mail open 24/7. It plays an alert whenever I get an e-mail and I set it up for a 5 minute refresh (although there's a bit of a delay sometimes with getting notifications about message and comments).

Or we could simply choose if we wanted those notifications or not, making it optional.

I would love to do that but I use Yahoo and if I leave chat open I get creepers talking to me

Like I said, it could just be something optional. Maybe we could choose between the noise or the number next to our screenname?

I would leave my yahoo chat open but I get all these creepy weirdos trying to talk to me, which is annoying... even if I'm pretending to be offline. And my e-mail does alert me, but it's discreet and I really can't tell unless I go back and forth from the yahoo page to my EF. So if I'm working on a review and I got a message from... EX: Miss Nessa, then I would have no idea.

Idk if that makes sense lol. But just something for those busy review-writers? I hate switching tabs all the time and if we had some sort of way to be notified at the top of the page or with an optional "ding!" that would be awesome!

I would hope it was optional. I really hate any sort of noises from sites. And I hate that I can't mute them without muting my itunes. It makes me pretty crazy.

I don't even look at my profile very often, because 90% of the messages on there are new point farmers telling me that they've just followed me. It's extra annoying on top of the email I already get about it.

That said, I'd like the little # notification system.
