I know someone who wanted to give me a gift card to help me out with one of my purchases, but when I put the code in that user gave me, it wouldn't work because it was for their account and not mine.

What do I do in this situation? How can they give me the gift card?

In order for them to give you the gift card, they actually need to purchase a gift card and have it sent to you. Gift cards from points can only be used on the account that earned the points, BUT you can use your points to purchase a gift card that you can then give to someone else.

You must purchase a gift card. Gift cards from another account won't work because they are for that account. That is so no one can have multiple accounts and cash them in on one account. So, if your friend wants to help you out she has to buy you a gift card.
