Do you ever spit in your sleep? Not drool, spit!

Contributor: K101 K101
Hello loves!
I have had this question for a very long time and thought I'd ask you guys what you do in your sleep? I know we've had some talk here about sex dreams and other things you do in your sleep, but this one I've never heard of (besides me). Since I'm sharing with you, I hope you'll do the same. Let me know your unusual sleeping quirks!

I spit in my sleep and have for years. I did earlier and it made me think to ask. I don't mean drooling, I mean actually spitting! It happens in different dreams, but this time I was dreaming I was trying to spit over a bridge! I kept thinking 'just spit over the bridge! Just spit over the bridge!' like it was very important or something then I woke up to spitting and it landed in my freaking hair! If I'm going through a stressful time with a particular experience I had that was really bad, I will have a phase where I cry and yell in my sleep and lately I've started yelling again, but not crying. No wonder I'm exhausted!

Do you do any of the things listed below in your sleep and please tell me I'm not the only one who talks, cried, and spits in my sleep!

Feel free to share how often you do these things and if there are any others that I didn't list.

Spit - never. I go through periods where I'll drool a little a couple of mornings in a row and wake disgusted in myself.....lol.

I use to talk in my sleep, but haven't for many years.

Anyone actually know why we sometimes drool? Why sometimes and not always?

My theory is whether or not your mouth is open while you're sleeping. I've drooled when my mouth has been open and any spit that's formed can travel out that way the easiest. My husband drool's and it's usually when his mouth is open some and there's an opening on a downward angle.

My husband says I sometimes talk in my sleep. Most of it is nonsense, he says.

Yeah, but I have wondered why I suddenly sleep with my mouth open just those couple of times and then I go months not drooling.

I do lots of stuff in my sleep. I talk, laugh, move around, and I used to walk in my sleep. I used to thrash around a lot and I would always kick my pillows off the bed - fortunately I've calmed down in that area, but I still talk, laugh and move around.

I personally tend to do more mouth breathing in my sleep if I'm having sinus problems or stuffy nose.

When it happens to me, it's usually either because my nose is plugged up somewhat, or I'm sleeping in such a position that it's easier for gravity to pull my jaw downwards rather than leave it in place.

I drool ocassionally, and I whimper. However, I have this issue where I sing in my sleep. It's really awful. My husband has no problem with it because when he's asleep.... he's asleep. I just hum really softly or sing softly, and I often wake myself up!

Lol. You sound like a mix between me and my partner. I cry and yell and he kicks and hits! Lol.

I'm a Pipi Longstocking. I sleep in really weird positions. There are a few pictures of me from my childhood where I am sleeping on my forehead with my butt in the air and balancing on the tips of my toes. I also sleep with my knees in the air, which my husband desperately wishes is an invitation to initiate sex with me. But, since I sleep really deeply and I'm often having very vivid dreams I tend to thrash and beat him about his body until he stops touching me. I'm working on it, though. 'Cause it really sucks.

During high stress time (or when I'm on strong medication) I have been known to whimper in my sleep, toss and turn, or (the worst yet) text on my phone! I don't talk, drool, or walk in my sleep... as far as I know.

I apparently talk sometimes, but I'm not sure if that's correct or not.

I have been known to talk and kick in my sleep, and yes one time I dreamt of spitting at a carnival then proceeded to actually spit in reality.

Oh my! Texting? Lol. That's pretty major. I'd be scared if I found out I'd texted while sleeping. Sleep texting. Lol. Sleep walking has always been scary to me. I've never done it either, but my mom does every so often and it's scary! She's done some WEIRD things while sleep walking.

Hopefully you're sleep texting will not progress into sleep walking. I do know what ya mean about strong meds causing you to do funny things. I was precribed pain killers and low dose anxiety meds and they knock me out. I've been taking them a year now, but for the past 4 months have cut down to 1 a week and they never fail to knock me out hard. Sometimes, if someone wakes me up I won't even remember until later when they bring it up. There's been so many times when my sisters have been over and woke me up and later I'll remember a tiny bit of the conversation and have to call and ask what they'd told me. Lol. It's kinda scary.

OMG! That is so good to hear. Lol. Sorry, but that was actually a bit relieving to me. That is a really funny dream though. Being at a carnival and spitting. Hee Hee. Sounds like some of my crazy sleep adventures. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's done it. Thankfully, it hasn't happened since I posted this little poll... that I know of anyways. Lol

Thankfully I woke up the next morning and remembered trying to text my parents. I was trying so hard to text them something I thought was important and I just couldn't get my phone to do what I wanted (it helps to be awake, of course). The next morning I checked my phone and it had random letters jumbled into nonsense and the message never sent.
