'A copy of the front and back of your credit card'

Contributor: PhoeHoneyBee PhoeHoneyBee
Eden fantasys asked me for a copy of the front and back of my credit card, as well as a copy of personal id. (I'm from Australia). Is it safe to send this information over the internet? Should I trust edenfantasys with this information?
I would have liked to use paypal, but I couldn't find this option at checkout. I'm feeling quite insecure and stupid about providing this info and just wanted to know others' feelings about this...

I only use Paypal because I don't have a creditcard. Your info should be fine. It's probably just a security thing.

Did they request this in an email? I'd do a support ticket through the website to ask if this is common for them to do.

This honestly sounds a little suspicious. I'd definitely send in a support ticket.

Sounds a bit fishy to me. I would alert them via a support ticket, I know they've been having issues with email scams lately. Better to get the information from the horse's mouth rather than going through with it.

If "eden" asked you that, it probably isn't Eden. Send a picture of the request to one of the admins; they should be able to help you asap

There are a few reasons why Eden would ask for a copy of your credit card and ID, but you should still go ahead and submit a support ticket if you're unsure. I've given customer service a heads up to expect one from you

Hey, gang!

So, the reason for the back/front of the card and pic. ID is when a billing address provided for an order doesn't match what is on file with the card used to make the purchase. Unfortunately, sometimes we are unable to authorize or verify some cards drawn on international banks. That's where the request for ID and CC info comes in.

Due to the nature of our industry, we do sometimes need to verify this information with our customers to make sure no one has gotten hold of your personal information. Even though our system is very secure, we do not keep record any of these IDs once we receive them.

Considering myself and our account manager are sometimes the ones sending these verifications out, I can assure you that it is definitely Eden sending these messages However! If you *ever* feel uncomfortable about these requests, we are always happy to confer with you and make you feel secure and safe with our company.

You can always contact us at 888-506-5516, too!

Good answer!

Honestly and without trying to blow our own horns, but Ilya's team of crack Customer Service people are the best I've seen! Seriously, I've tried using CS things at other places and I'm impressed with our team!

The button to pay with Paypal is in the check out. When you are looking at your cart, there is a big green "Checkout" button. The Paypal button is to the left of that. I've missed it a few times myself, even though I shop here often

I've never had this requested. I would use Paypal instead if you're worried.
