So, who has actually read some fanfiction? Or better yet, written any?

I will add this, while it is true that women are running the market on MM slash stuff, many young gay male teens AND FTMs (who are classified as women still, sadly), are writing slash. I write slash, and read slash.

I completely agree. It wasn't the focus of this piece but it's totally true. I have a few older gay male friends who write and read slash as well. I think the tone of the sex and stories can be a little different than when women--particularly straight women--are writing and reading. The best slash writers I know are lesbians.

I think the diversity is part of what makes it a really fun community. (And a community prone to wankitude.)

Oh definitely. I just wanted to add my own two cents. And as far as the writing style, it's very different. I just purchased a MM slash book because my mom pointed it out at the romance section, and it was by an author of Erastes and she writes historical, which I like, but the book was HORRIBLE. Does she really think gay men have that much drama? And the whole "I don't really want to be gay because it's against my religion" and the constant twists that made no sense, it was definitely a disappointment.

P.s: That fucked up gay porn mentioned in the Beyond Bromance movie, was it Sensitive Pornograph?

I wonder if the opposite is true for femslash (female x female fanfiction). Are the majority of those who write femslash male? Somehow, I doubt it.

As to my confessions: I used to be a pretty big Legolas x Aragorn 'shipper and Yamato x Taichi (from Digimon) 'shipper. Wrote a little, read a lot

I've written femslash. But most of my friends who write it frequently are women.

A fewwww slashy novels I've read were good. Most of them are terrible. I prefer gay fiction by men.

OH GOD. I'd laugh so hard if the corn vibrator was sold through Edens!

Not exactly, but that could do! *cracks up* There's a specific vibrator/dildo that is sold with the Boku No Sexual Harassment logo.

I never wrote any, but I used to read more than my fair share of slash fanfics. I had some favorites, from a graphic novel series called ElfQuest, but unfortunately there wasn't much slash written there then. I may have to wander back and look...

Ha, I write a lot of random non-sense... and last weekend I wrote the initial draft for this hard X, GI Joe-style adventure story between two arch enemies: Diane Sawyer & Cynthia McFadden (both are ABC news correspondents).

I also wrote another about Count Chocula and some his sexual exploits that you can you can check out on Tales from the Porn Store. (Technically it is a re-mix)
