Can't "Favorite" a discontinued item?

I recently bought the Bandito when they went on sale because I was afraid it would be discontinued given the rumors about Jollies. The item is listed as out of stock, although I assume it will soon be changed to discontinued. I wanted to add this item to my list of favorites but can't. For some reason, the system does not recognize it. This seems to be true of the few discontinued items I tried as a test. My question, is this intentional? And if so, why can we still write reviews and rate these items? If it's an accidental oversight, could I request it be changed? Thanks.
