Product Ratings

Contributor: darthkitt3n darthkitt3n
I have noticed a lot of products have comments and ratings on them from people who state "Oh, that looks pretty!" or something in their comment. I don't mind the comments, but when a bunch of people give a product x/5 stars because the thing looks cute or it looks like it would be fulfilling, it DOES affect how the product rates compared to others. Is there any way to fix or stop this? It seems like people are just using the star ratings as another form of setting a lure.

I actually agree...I wish they would just fix that in with the lure rating and be done with it.

There was a thread about this recently. Probably another ill consequence of the EP system. I agree, it's not good.

This would take some work to implement but what could be done is:

After rating a product it will come up and ask "Do you own this?" if you click yes you get points, if you click "No" you get points, defeats the purpose but it lets them get their points and move on. Or you could take away points for rating products all together.

I think it would be neat if there could be lure and the star ratings on all products. Sometimes I want to "lure" a product and can't. That's sad, and a way I think to remedy this as well.

When I first joined, I was one of those people. But soon learned that it wasn't right that I give my star opinion when I hadn't even tried the item.
It means that people can't really go by the stars to decide on an item so makes the stars pointless.

I just noticed that there's an option to sort by highest reviewed items! Has this always been around? Of course, this doesn't fix the problem of looking at the star rating on an item and seeing it skewed by ratings from people who haven't actually tried the toy.

For example, here's the highest reviewed dildos, in other words, 5-star reviews only: link

Is this a new feature? I don't remember seeing this on the site before. Sorry if this has already been covered in another thread. I think it's a pretty sweet feature that I didn't even know about until today.
