Your greatest influence: PROS vs. CONS?

Contributor: PassionateLover2 PassionateLover2
When you examine a prospective SEX TOY, does the lowest ratings or the highest ratings of a product Review determine whether or not you go ahead with making the purchase? Do the ‘Cons’ out weigh the ‘Pros’ as being the final determining decision which YOU make before purchase the SEX TOY? What is the greatest influence in your decision making?

I usually find that I learn the most from a reviewer who was neutral about or didn't like the toy, when they clearly express why. If I can look at what they didn't like, and decide if my body is the same as or different from theirs, then I can know if I will like it.

(This changes a little if I know the reviewer in question---if I "know" somebody's preferences, and they like something, I can be pretty confident in it. But if it's just a random reviewer, I usually feel like I learn more from a lukewarm or negative review.

It depends on how huge of issues the pros and cons are, and if there's a huge amount of positive or negative reviews...The vast number of repetition of how great or not great it is, is what gets me I think.

Rating, pros and cons influence O/our decisions, plus any other useful information from the reviews. I wouldn't place any of them above the rest, as they count equally.

The cons. Chances are, your "pros" mean shit to me. I'm piiiiicky. But if we hate the same things, I know exactly what to avoid.

I read through all the cons to see if they're consistant and decide if the issue would be a factor for me.

Both pros and cons are important to me. One thing I have found extreamly helpful is finding those reviewers who have similar tastes and standards as mine. If I know that reviewer requires more power than the average woman then her power ratings have more weight with me.

I like to group four or five reviews, (2 low-1 med 2 high, compile the information based on what each reviewer liked/did not like and then read further if I need to. What works for others does not always work for me and so on. I do take everything into account and then use my judgment based on my personal preference.

I try to read all the reviews and give them equal weight and then decide I really want the toy...sometimes the reviews make the decision for me and other times, I read them and then make my own decision...

I usually look at both, but I take the pros with a grain of salt because if one person says it's "SOOO strong" that might be weak to me. It's doubtful it would go the other way around. Plus, cons tell me if there is anything that would annoy me so much that I wouldn't like the toy.

Pros or cons may not affect us the same as the reviewer, so I look at both and decide which of each matters to us. Critical reviews - which are not always negative - can be more informative than those raving about an item, but again, I look at both and weigh the comments to our situation. Once I become interested in an item to the point of entertaining purchase, I read as many reviews as possible to see if there is agreement about features I like or want. I suppose I take an average of all the reviews in my mind.

Yeah, I'm a nerd.

I'm really particular and picky when it comes to anything, so if I'm spending money on something it has to be next to perfect.

I read the reviews, and see which cons and which pros apply to my situation. Not all toys are one size (or more likely shape) fits all.

Thanks for sharing your views. What is interesting is when you do a comparison chart and lets say you sent it to someone. What is usually highlighted is the PROS and CONS along with the product picture. The ratings seem to be less of an impact when preparing a comparison!

It depends on the reviewer. There are some reviewers I know who have similar preferences as I do. If they say it's too weak for them then it's too weak for me.

I take everything into consideration when thinking about purchasing a toy. I read a bunch of reviews on it and try to find someone with similar tastes, etc. to see how it worked for them.

The cons will mean more than other pieces of information but not alone do the determine my final decision.
